Question Shipping a Cockatoo

Hi everybody, it's been awhile since I've posted.....
I'm finally at a time in my life where I can get my friend back "Cody" from the lady who bought her from me to be a breeder - Cody wants no part of that - lol but I can get her back - she'll only sell her back to me, real nice lady but she's way down in S.C. and I now own a car that won't make the trip :( so I'm looking into the possibility of shipping her to me - does anybody know who does that and how it works? Also, do Umbrella Cockatoo's do ok shipping? I wouldn't want to stress her to death. If anybody has input I'd appreciate it - I live in W.V. and it may be too cold to ship now anymore this year.....
Thank you - Natalie

Several airlines do ship animals. I have received shipped parrots through Delta on a couple of occasions, and at least one other airline but I don't remember which one it was. I believe that whomever is doing the shipping is the one that has to make the arrangements, so your seller would need to contact the airline and find out their current policies (carrier requirements, fees, etc.). Each airline probably has its own rules about how they want things done, and it might even be on their websites.

I don't think a flight from South Carolina to West Virginia would be that long, so the bird would probably be fine in that respect.

Your other option could be to rent a car and drive to get her, but that long of a trip may be just as stressful as being shipped in an airplane. The advantage would be that you'd have total control over the situation.
