Medium Sulfer-Crested Cockatoo

Don, I am probably the newest person to register on this web-site and I just read what you said about Cockatoos and African Greys. I have had experience with both as pets. Greys tend to take to one person as I am sure you are aware. And my experience is that they may not be that friendly towards anyone else. Cockatoos are the sweetest, lovable birds I have ever encountered if loved and taken care of. I am a current owner of a 1 yr old Medium Sulfer Crested Cockatoo and I feel I must sell her. She is a great bird but does not get 1/2 the attention she deserves or need at this point. I have 2 small children with one more on the way and dividing my time is rather difficult. If you are interested, please contact me. I live in New Jersey. She has her papers and is registered with the Wildlife federation.

We have a Goffin and he's a snuggle machine. Nice little addition to our family.

I have a five year old U2 . She plucks, she has mutilated before. I read the books, tried to do everything just like the experts said. It did not matter she was meant to pluck and a very high strung little girl who will attack a stranger who walks in the room. Out of all our birds ( and one was very badly injured) She has cost us the most in vet bills.

On the other hand with the family she is sweet , wonderful, cuddly darling who makes us laugh. My son can do anything with her including holding her on her back. To trim her nails you get out the file and clippers. She walks over and holds out her foot. I would take my badly feathered funny little girl over a beautifully feathered too any day.

I back up Cindy as to the breeder Len ( claviaryonline.com) . I have heard his birds are truly wonderful and he is a good ethical breeder. Basically he is a great guy all round in my opinion. I did not get my U2 from him but wish I could have.

thinking of getting a too

Hello Don,

I'm a new guy here, as of today and I'm a bit red in the face but I must be honest and admit that John is so very right on the money with his response to you about being sure about being the human companion of a too. They are everything he says they are and more. I'm in right in there, as he explains about the folks who dont know anything about toos but think they do, based extremely limited experience: Having a few store visits where they (( always seem to be )) ( ??? ) quiet and even calm ( ? ) LOLOL !!!
But alas.....Then we bring home this truly amazing creature in all of his or her white glory and beauty....And then ahhhhh, the honeymoon period has begun, LOL ! You actually begin to think that "you" have the only well trained and quiet, (LOL !) too on the planet !! But oh, then the silence is shattered whether its in a few hours or days....But it is and will be, LOL !! By this amazing animal who will get your attention as if it is on fire ! But seriously, even with their screaming and neediness, they are smart and emotional - emphatic, soft and playful and snuggly beyond belief. It is almost impossible to not love them for all of their charm.......
And then there are those other aspects to their personalities that are not so cuddly.
And like John, below who answered you so honestly, nothing I'm saying is negative, just real, just honest.
My little Jeffrey is as loud and cute and a spoiled cry baby as the triton I had with me for a while. Nonny used to throw his food up and onto the ceiling. he had exxon valdez oil spill sized poops, we wont even talk about the screaming, LOL !! But, he too was amazing and great to be with - friendly beautiful affectionate.....And we wont even talk about the screaming, LOL
Kinda like a Boeing 767 engine roaring to life.....(( naaaa, toos cant be that loud..... can they ? ))

Regards,

David
