stupid question maybe

Okay, this may be a stupid question, but is the lower peak of a G2 suppose to be non-rounded, kind of squared off? I was just looking at my baby and his lower beek is like it was clipped off with clippers....straight across and not rounded.-point. I know on my GCC and a CAG I owned have almost pointed lower AND upper beaks and work them like little pinchers sometimes.

That's normal. :) Toos-Tiels have little meat scoopers and it smarts when they give you a nip too. :)

Thanks Bekfreak, it's amazing what stupid things goes through a persons mind sometimes. All I knew was that Chaucer's beak didn't look like the others'.

wow.......almost looks like a Count Dracula in reverse with that lower beak. Thanks. I could have just asked the Avian Vet tomarrow when Chaucer goes in for his first well-bird check....but I didn't want to looks stupid in the flesh. I weighed my little guy today, and he weighs in at a wopping 8.60 ounces.

Yeah, and those fangs can give an impressive puncture wound if the 'too is inclined to bite.... yowza! Thankfully, I've never been badly bitten by any 'too (*knocks wood*).

Cathy.

The best way to keep a 'close' eye on your birds weight is to use grams rather than ounces..your scale may have a conversion button to switch it to grams. Because these guys are so small, a 10% drop in weight can be significant. If your scale doesn't read grams, it might be best to pick up a new one.. I got one from Ebay for about $20 delivered. It only weighs up to
6lbs...but it's more than I'll ever need for the birds..it's got a tare feature, does oz, grams. KG, and combinations....so it comes in handy in the kitchen as well! The holiday might be a GREAT day to scoff a good deal..auctions closing and nobody bidding on the 4th!!

After your post I went and looked at my scale, it can indeed be switched to grams. I'll keep an eye on him t make sure his weight climbs. Tomorrow I have to take him back to the breeder I got him from to be boarded. My husband and I off to Branson, MO. for a week and althought I would love to take Chaucer, I don't feel that he is quite ready for a long trip. But I'm really comfortable with him being boarded with the breeder. I took Chaucer into him for a visit the other day and he went crazy. You could really tell that the breeder had spend some real "love" time with him.
