need help with my Golfin
hi i hope someone can help me. We have a 18 month male Galfin which we have had since he was 3 month old. he is very sweet has been for about a year a shreader but not to the point where it is very bad.
about two weeks ago he had a shoe lace in his cage and tore it into shreads. part of it go tangled on his feet and neck. my wife tried to help him but he freaked out and bit her several time very very hard. when she finaaly got him in his cage, he was so scared he has not let her near him since. He will let her feed him in the cage from her hand for a second or two but that is it. he still is the same with me which is very affectionate. We are trying to let her be the feeder in the morning and try for a second or two at a time to pet him but he is resisitng. Is ther anything we can do to get him back the way he was before this happened? Thanks Kevin (coloKev) |

I am assuming you are talking about a "goffins' cockatoo. Yes, he is probably very upset with your wife as she was there during his duress. All your wife can do is be there for him and let him know that she isn't scared or wary of him!
Unfortunately for your wife, she was there during this....... it now takes time and patience. I have gone through this recently myself. Last edited by TooLover; 09-10-2006 at 11:23 PM. |

If after a few more weeks, you aren't seeing any improvement in your Goffin's attitude towards your wife, let me know. You may need some help with some specific techniques to help things along.
