Worried and a mess
I have a five year old Goffins named Bosco. Last Sat. he was acting strange and he bit me when I let him out of his cage. He bit me so hard it was down through the tendons. My natural reaction was to shake him off and I know that was so wrong it was not intentional. He had never bitten me before not in two years. I saw that he was hurt from the fall and rushed him to the Animal Hospital in Red Bank NJ. Let me preface this by letting you know Bosco is my world I love him more than anything. I would never do anything to hurt him.
This turned out to possibly be a blessing is disguise bc he had an infection. He is on antibiotics now and seemed to be doing much better. I thought he would be coming home soon. Then his bloodwork came back and his phosphorus was very high. we thought he may have Kidney failure from built up toxins in his system. I was devistated I thought he may not make it... I wanted to die I love him soooo much. I stayed in the hospital till 7:00 last night and the bloodwork came back great so THANK GOD. I hope the good news continues and he can come home soon he has been in since Sat. My question is what can I do to prepare for him to come home. I have already cleaned his cage and put in blankets. I have gotten him extra food and water bowls so he can reach them if he wants to stay on the floor. I want to get him to pellets but all he eats for the most part are sunflower seeds from his seed mix. I give him so much variety and he does not eat most of it. I want to make sur I am doing everything right for him he is my life. I love him so much. Thanks,

I hope all is well so far. Your vet probably has some advice for you in regards to Bosco's rehab, but overall, it's a good idea to keep him in a fairly stress-free zone so that he can put all his energy into healing. If that means getting him back to a light routine, that may be best. He may not want to be handled, or he may crave more affection. It's hard to know how a sick or recovering animal will behave. Just like with people, some just want to curl up and go to sleep. Others get really whiny and needy.

Great!
Thank you so much for your help. BOSCO is doing Great!. He has returned to normal fo rthe most part. He is fighting me 100% in giving him his medicine. G2's are fast like a gecko on back two legs. He has been playing hide and seek when it is medicine time. He knows he must be able to smell the meds bc I draw them up out of sight. HEHEHE he is so smart. I brought him to the Hospital for follow up yesterday they said he was doing great. He does not like to be in his carrier so once we were inside I let him out. He was the life of the party talking to everyone who walked by, dancing and just being a ham. It is funny how animals make people happy and smile even at some of our hardest times. I am glad he can help spread happiness to people that at the moment were otherwise heartbroke. Ohh sorry we saw a woman who just lost her sun conure. I felt so bad it brought tears to my eyes to see someone go through my worst fear. And Bosco even put a smile on her face. I wish her lots of luck and my prayers will be with her.
Thanks for all your help, Sam
