I went into the shop today and asked the girls. Its a baby Roseate Cockatoo, aka Rose breasted Cockatoo. Apparently, when they're babies the feathers are darker in color and lighten when they get their adult feathers

They are incorrect. THIS is a baby rose breasted even younger than that was. My friend raises them but this is not one of hers.

Yeah if it was a galah i would have thought the head feathers would have been a bit lighter? I dunno what it is?

Thats what Im trying to figure out. The top one is a Galah (aka, rose breasted cockatoo) and the bottom one is ?????. Someone said it was a rose breasted baby(and the feathers would change) and I said not even close and posted the pic of the Galah baby. He does have a cute baby face!
I suppose I could just email the bird store I stole the pic from and ask them eh? That would be TOO easy, lol.

Hmm. I'm stumped then too. The book we looked at had a baby just like it and said Roseate Cockatoo, but the book did refer to it also as a galah. Are they in the same "family"?

Roughly three more weeks and I'll be down in Orlando to visit them. The last time I was there (about 3 years ago) they had an adorable young African Grey that was so friendly. When I went to his cage and put my hand next to the cage he/she ran to my hand and put his/her head down for me to scritch him/her.

We actually wanted to adopt him/her on the spot. But the airlines wouldn't let us take him/her on as carry-on in a pet carrier. So, we regrettingly, didn't get him/her. To this day, we really wish that we couldn've gotten him. Living a few thousand miles from Orlando meant we couldn't deposit/purchase and then go back down there.

And we are just not comfortable subjecting birds to "shipping" them, especially when the sales person at the Chief's Cabin showed us the "shoe box" they would've shipped him in. It wasn't a shoebox per say... it was a carrier no bigger than a showbox you would purchase basketball/high top shoe's in. Anyhow, I'm looking to going down there and visiting again.
