I don't know if it's the same in the states, but far too many galah owners I've seen have their poor bird in those lousy 3' cube-cages with one perch and no toys. And if you ask them about toys, they give you this look as if YOU'RE the mad one
I used to have a neighbour who kept her galah in a cage I wouldn't put a lovebird in. I was so glad when he escaped!
It seems to be a fairly common thing, too! I swear, the cage Luen's previous owner had him in would be lousy even for a travel cage. And she wondered why he didn't like her. On top of that, he was outdoors on top of an airconditioner, with her three cats tormenting him whenever they became bored.
Far, FAR too many galah owners here treat their birds like ornaments. Sometimes I wish they were more expensive here, so less people had the opportunity to torture these gorgeous birds.
