Everyone Please Welcome - Kim Bear to our "Ask The Experts Staff"

Kim Bear (Cockatoo Expert)

Kim Bear has been doing parrot consultations since 1993 and has also bred and handfed parrots. She has experience with all species, but came highly recommended as a cockatoo behavioral expert.

Kim does private consultations, by phone and home visits in her area by appointment. She has frequently been interviewed by Bird Talk magazine. Kim is currently involved in Birdtricks.com and regularly contributes to Toolady.com. She has worked as a vet tech in Crestview, Florida and is currently an instructor at Okaloosa-Walton College where she teaches Wellness and occasionally First Aid. She also SCUBA dives.

Birdboard happily welcomes Kim to our experts forums and staff.

Introduction

Hi:

I've helped people with all kinds of parrots, in all kinds of situations and feel pretty confident that even if we can't solve the whole situation, we can make things better. For the last few years, I've been helping cockatoo owners in particular through toolady.com and am happy to help you out here as well. My own cockatoo, Yoyo, a citron-crested cockatoo, is a wonderful example of a well-behaved, well-adjusted cockatoo, but she's still the most challenging parrot I have, testing my patience to the limit sometimes. When I bred and handfed parrots, I worked with cockatoos of different species and ages, and think that cockatoos in general are really quite special, and they need special families!

Thanks for letting me share my experience with you!

Kim Bear

Kim it is just GREAT that you are here! I do not have a Cockatoo - but am very interested in learning from your words about them. Please make yourself at home - this is a great bunch of people - if there is anything we can do for you - just holler!
