Update on Molly Bird
For those who do not read the "In Memory Of" Forum I thought I would tell you all that Molly passed on during Wednesday night or possibly Thursday sometime. My husband found her Thursday night. I took her down to the avian vet on Friday after work to have a Necropsy done. It took her all of about 15 min to find some answers. She told me that Molly had atherosclerosis as well as a small liver. I also think she said there was a kidney infection or something was wrong with the kidneys.
As you all know we took Molly in a year ago and we did not know much about her past history. We assume that her diet was horrible and as you know the male that they paired her with to try and breed abused her. If you all recall her feathers were plucked and her beak was damaged.
My husband and I did what we could to give her the best life possible, we did not know how short it would become. I still feel horrible because I wish there was more we could have done, we did not know she was sick as she never showed any signs of anything being wrong. She only loved my husband (Remember she would attack me any chance she got) and I wish he had been able to hold her before her last moments but he had worked late that night he found her. By the time he came home she had already passed on.
I myself had not known because that same day something (A bug we think) bit my dog and she had an allergic reaction. I had to take her to the vet for shots to take down the swelling in her face and eyes, and from there go to work (Which became a semi long day for me). I had no time to go into the bird room that day to check on everybody like I normally do. This is the reason I can't pinpoint when she may have passed on. We know she was alive before we went to bed Wed night.
