We've had our U2 just over 10 years. Our kids were 6, 9, and 11 when she joined the family. She's been an awesome family pet...although, I've been told her behavior is not typical of toos. I wouldn't really know, since I've not had any for comparison.

well my father has had our galah for just over 40 years. we got Sam when i was early teens, and i turned 50 last year. so he has been through the ups and downs of our family life. only recent years he has been eating a more healthy diet, i hate to admit most of the time he was fed mainly a seed diet. he is a real character and i hope he will be around for a lot longer. yeah i would definitely recommend a galah and certainly suggest you take advantage of this forum and all the wonderful information currently available on the net....good luck

I will repeat that every individual bird is different in personality, but I have to say that my G2 adores children. He is a gentle bird in general (he definitely has "leave me alone" moods but you have to learn to read body language) but he is his MOST gentle with the kids. My boys are 11, 8, and 6...I have a 16 year old as well but he's 6'3" so I don't think Remy views him as a child. Of course they are never with him unsupervised because every bird (and every child!) can be unpredictable but he really does love them.

Hi! I've had my Harley-girl almost 3 months now... don't know what I'd do without her. She does great with my children, also. She is 2 yrs, 8 mos old and I am her second home... and as long as I have a say, we're in it for the long haul together!

Love my baby!!

i have only had my SC too for a couple of months but he is the best thing ever! i was planning on getting myself a hand raised baby galah later this year but Sox turned up, he was 9 mths old and needed a new home. the ppl i got him off got him out of a nest in the aussie outback and raised him, then all he did was screech.... he was just on the back verandah and not getting enough attention, kids were bored of him and had no toys.

In steps me.... yep i'll take him on, i had lost my gorgeous 16 yr old dog a few months before and was completely lost. Sox follows me everywhere and ALWAYS is in the mood for cuddles and scratches... he is a bit wary of friends that visit but is SO sociable, LOVES attention and rarely screeches now.

so i guess its been about 2 months... amazing to look at him and think he could be alive in another 100 yrs ...... amazing!
