Need Help With My Goffin Cockatoo

Her name is cooper. She is 13 weeks old. She just came home on Sunday it is now Thursday. She if fine in her cage but when I try to bring her out for some play/cuddle time....all she does is cry and will not stop until I put her back on her cage.

Can someone let me know if this is normal? If i'm consistant with her routine will this go away?

She is thinking you are going to handfeed her when you get her out. She might be regressing a little which sometimes happens with toozys. They are fed for many months by mom and dad even when they leave the nest. Very Family oriented. It would be good for you to get some handfeeding formula and mix it to a thicker (than for wee babies) and warm 99-103 (older baby) degrees and offer it on the end of a spoon once or twice a day for awhile. It will calm the baby. She/he is used to getting fed each time it is removed and probably a little lost from its clutch mates so a little comfort feeding wont hurt and may instill your bond. NEVER FEED WITHOUT A TEMP CHECK - You can burn a baby inside. NEVER FEED OVER 110 but I wont go that high either. You can get handfeeding formula "EXACT" by Kaytee or "EMBRACE" by Zupreem at many petstores.
Cockatoos babies can be very needy for awhile...

I do hand feed her once a day usually at night right before our alone time together...but i was wondering will that crying stop? is it because she is stressed out?

The crying will stop after a while. The same happened with my Goffin. He would puff kinda squaty like, and weave back and forth? Be very careful-you can spoil them at this point-which I did. I would usually give him soft fruit to "nurse" off of. Just be reassurring-it takes a while-but it will pass. Being in a new environment-just needs love and patience.

oh thank you so much, nice to know it will go away at some point. What you are explaining is exactly what she is doing.
