Question grinding?

My cockatoo has picked up a new thing.......... he is grinding his beak, its almost like grinding your teeth sound.... Is this normal for them, or should we be concerned...........

Depends. Mine do it when they're tired or content, just something they do.

Mine does it when he wants attention, but didn't get it after screaming for it. He also does it while in time-out.

Jezz does that grinding beak noise when she is happy. She does it when she sees DH, the love of her life. She also does it when she is excited. So here it is not a bad thing. But the noise is annoying, like nails on a chalkboard.

All of mine do it at night when they are settling in. Its a sign of a content... happy bird.

Morgan does it at night when she's going to sleep. The sound lets me know she's settling down.

Falling asleep content stuff - its all normal. Ive even heard canaries do it.

Both of mine do it when they are just chilling out on their cages. Usually don't do it when we are holding them or playing with them.
