Question Bamboo & BottleBrush Questions~

Bamboo I have always wonder but ~

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was told that the Bamboo comes in different varieties....some that are safe....others that may NOT be safe for particular breeds of birds...Just like the Eucalyptus....awesome for birds like the Cockatoos for sure...BUT a word of caution for those who may unintentionally 'think' they can purchase such Eucalyptus from craft stores etc...DO NOT! Must be pure Eucalyptus....IF in doubt I simply do without! Good basis to go by until I research more...I do have a question though...hopefully the individual who spoke to us last year about the BOTTLEBRUSH TREE will see this & confirm the safety~~ Thanks!
I have large BottleBrush trees in my yard that bloom beautiful RED fuzzy flowers that I am concerned whether it is OK to simply cut high up branches FRESH off the tree.....leaving the blossoms, fuzzy red flowers & new bark with seed like apparations which indicate the flower will bloom from them? I do know that BottleBrush wood is safe...I have also learned that the bottlebrush blossoms/seeds can be saved for later use in (winters) & fed dried to your birds... Also know that many BottleBrush tree stands are popular among the feathered families around the world! But I am not totally sure that if I simply go & cut a FRESH branch high from our trees with blossoms of fuzzy red AND seedy looking balls attached to bark as if ready to bloom AND fresh cut branch wood is OK...SAFE to place inside my birds cages an outdoor aviary to simply nibble/play upon/destroy whatever??? I have COCKATOOs...Med Sulfer Crested (a very AGRESSIVE chewer/destroyer), a Ducorps (4 & 1/2yrs) very PICKY eater AND a baby Goffin 9 mths of age! Thank you for your responses! Oh by the way...last Spring/Summer my aviary did have such tree branches placed in it from time to time...our lil Senagal LOVED it! My Ducorps is NOT a BIG chewer so he was among the BottleBrush yet not to actually eat/chew! They are still happy healthy feathered ones today....BUT I worry about my Medium Sulfer crested....he CHEWS & destroys everything!

MsSmurfy, bottlebrush is native to Australia as are many of the cockatoos. I have them in my back yard and often give them to my tiels to play with, they love them. I give them whole branches, flowers and all. It is a natural toy for them. Here is my Manu ready to dive in and enjoy a fresh branch.

Thank you!

:eusa_clap GREAT, I appreciate your answer...I feel a bit more relieved now..I know all my birds seem to enjoy the fresh trees outside...often time I also let them play among the Palm Fronds & they so much feel the wind beneath their wings wiggle their tails feeling FREE! So I try to make sure all the Aviary is brightened & inviting when Spring & summer comes...Happier birds that way for sure!! My hubby often asks me.."Why are you doing that...LOOK at the mess you have to clean now!" He thinks I give the birds too much which means more clean_up for me! LOL...

Bottle brush

Ms Smurphy.
I think it was I that posted last year about bottle brush. I have been unavailable for most of this year due to experiences in SE Asia during the 60's.

Give your birds all the bottle brush you have. Old, new, top of the tree or the bottom. I am currently feeding my galah's dried seed from last season. Not as a staple diet but as a supplement/treat.
