Help--an Egg

So Morgan has been acting funny the past week or so. Today she was sitting in the chair with me, sleeping under a blanket. I got up and put her back on the cage and then when I went to sit back down, there was an egg.
What do I do? Anything? Something? I do not have a clue.

Not much you can really do.Is she showing an interest in the egg?If she's not you can remove it if she is you leave it with her for a certain amount of time until she losses interest then you remove it.I went through the same thing with Buzz my 14 year old B&G Macaw and I was just like you except worse.
The only difference for me was she broke the egg. That was a big relief for me.No more eggs yet and that was her first since I rescued her 4 years ago so I was clueless.I hope this helps you.

Marcia, as always, this helped. I'm hoping she won't lay another. Is there usually only 1 egg?

Oh no, not funny, I was freaked. What should I watch for as far as her laying another? Lord, I can deal with the screams, the feather picking, the not eating but eggs? That's another story. I'm scared to even let her sit in my lap anymore. I definately haven't let her cuddle under the blanket since the "incident". Does that encourage egg laying? OOOOHHHH I need help.

Yes that encourage egglaying. So don't allow her to hide in any dark corners,in
boxes, end tables or anything she may see as a nesting box.You think you have problems I have a house full of hormonal nesty females. They may not be Cockatoos but just parrots that must be constantly watched.Let's just hope that it was her first and last egg. Also do not give her warm soft mushy food until all this is over with.It adds to the problem.

I feel for you, really I do. One is enough for me. Morgan hasn't been happy today that I won't let her cuddle under the blanket in my lap and sleep. She seems really restless. How long will this last? Can I outlast it?

There's no telling how long it will last with each bird it's different. You'll have to play the waiting game.I will contact some of my bird friends with larger birds.

Marcia, bless you. I am not touching her anywhere but the head, not cuddling her under the blanket, oh she is not a happy little camper. She just sits on the arm of my chair and looks at me with a puzzled look. My poor little, egg laying baby.
