Getting Another Too :)
Alright so i have offically decided to egt another cockatoo. Since I am going off to school in about 2 years and my parents won't let me take Miley I want a more one person brid to take with me, but sitll be as cuddly and funny and adorable as Miley is right now (lets see how she is in 2 years eh
I have looked at all types of birds, seeing if an amazon, macaw, grey, conure, etc etc would be better for my situation. But aftre spending 2 months at the rescue I don;t much care for a macaw, and amazons dont interest me much you know? And I had a grey and it really didnt fit ym personality and what I want out of a parrot so I could give it all the time it needs. I wont be getting a bird until afetr summer when I have more time but I decided a cockatoo would be best for my situation. Now which type? I want a rehomed bird ebcause I fell in love a few at the rescue, I thought they would have more cockatoos but they only have about 5 at most out of 50 birds. So goffins I think are adorable and I would love one, and bare eyes are amazing too! I like lesser's and galahs are great to, I think I dont want a big cockatoo because that would scare my grandma and shes who i will be living with. So I researched all 4 and asked rbeeders, owners, and the nancys(recues owner) opinion and still have no idea, so now I thought you guys could help! which too would be best? Noise isnt an issue because my grandmas almost death and she has a house, someone will always be there for the bird so time isn't that big either, although when i'm done school and move out the bird might have to be alone for longer then used to, so i guess that should be taken into concideration. A good talker would be ncie but not nessary, and space and cost isn't an issue either. I got the 4 choices, galah, lesser sulphur crested, goffins and bare eyed and not one is at the rescue so I don't have a first hand expirance with any of them so i'm relying on you guys for your good points and thoughts! Thanks in advance! |

I would have to agree with Huntress. With Morgan I barely have time to eat myself, much less find time to do homework and all the other activities with school. I would give it a lot of thought. Morgan wants to be with me all the time and she doesn't care that I have other things to do. How hard will it be to study with a Too screaming for you?
Best of luck with school and your Too if you decide to get one.

deaf** wow horriable typo!!
And I have a umbrella as well right now and he's fine for timebecause hes been left alone for a while since we first got him so he is used to ebing alone which is what will be done with the new parrot as well. And if I won't be able to give the bird time my grandma will because she loves birds, but waiting to se emy time table would be a good idea as well. Right now i am in grade 10 so I woduld like a bird to be alredy trained when i mvoe tinto my grandmas house because it didn't take long to break Miley of his screming and what nto and get him trained but he was a baby so an adult will most likely be harder to work with you know? |

Grade 10? I would not recommend a cockatoo to a person in grade 10. So much can change between grade 10 and graduating, and then moving on to college. Trust me- this is coming from someone who fostered rescue cockatoos, skipped grades 10-12 and started college at age 16. That is the most uncertain time of a persons life, I swear.

Wow, I have to agree, sorry hate to be a poop suck but when I think of all the changes, moves, jobs, and dating changes I went through in my teens and twenties. I know my lifestyle changes that I went through, I don't think any bird would have lasted through all of it, let alone a Too.

Also if you don'tmind me asking... how old are you? WIll you have time for a too when you are in college? I don't think so. What will happen when you meet a guy who hates her. Your life is going to change soooo much in the next 10 years, what will happen to your too? I honestly think you are a little young to take on the responsibility of making that kind of decision.

i really don't think you should get a cockatoo.
life changes so much and even the best of intentions get thrown out the window when reality sets in. as for your grandma looking after the bird when you don't have time??? NO ONE could touch my cocky except me after he'd bonded. he would bite everyone who went near him. i think you should give this A LOT of time to think before you rush into it. cockatoo's are VERY special birds and you need to be 100% about your life before getting one. i never thought i'd want to live in an apartment or unit but now i'm 25, engaged and on a tight budget, i think we might have to move into a smaller place. which sucks bcoz i own a very loud sun conure. which severely limits what i can do and the quality of house i can live in. also, have you thought about travelling? it's not gonna be easy if you have a sulpher crested baby with separation anxiety and who no one else can touch... PLEASE PLEASE wait til miley reaches sexual maturity and you have to handle that mess of screaming hormonal, possessive cockatoo before you make your decision.
