Red Tailed Black Cockatoo

Does anyone know anything about this species? What is it's personality like compared to white cockatoos? What's the price difference?

First of all you have to find one. Where are you located?

New York but location isn't an issue because I will travel. What is the species personality like, and what can I expect to pay? Thank you.

61 Pairs of Birds FOR SALE by AUCTION

Looks like they are around $1500... in Australia.

I think they have special dietary requirements. And need an aviary... which in NY will be tough.

They are rather rare and do not take to living in captivity well. Unless you own a separate house to use as a temperature controlled environment in NY... I really do not see as how you would do well to even be looking for one.

Very LOUD, very hard to breed in captivity, very destructive and they do not thrive well in captivity. And the price... WOW!

Oh yes. Cockatoos are cheap in Australia. Macaw prices in Australia... not so cheap. Just reverse here in the United States. Ask some of the Australian Bird Board Members what macaws cost there... you'll fall over on the floor in disbelief.

Luckily for me, my best friend lives an hour from Brisbane, but are there ways to import these birds?
