Hi. I didn't want to post the news on Majestic, quite frankly because I was trying to avoid getting bashed, however, since you've asked, I will not lie...

I just didn't have the courage to face her (her beak) to get her to where she'd be safe to have around my kids. She had popped 2 welds due to being a bit cage aggressive... she was ok once she was out, but she can't be out 24/7. My children were so drawn to her (as they are all animals, for obvious reasons) and wanted her to love them as the other fids do, and there were just too many close calls. I had a feeling she was just going to be a "foster" anyways... her previous owner's wife had become allergic to all of his birds, and their only other option for Majestic was shipping her to perfect strangers out of state that they had never met & I wasn't comfy with that... I knew that in my home she'd be well cared for until I could find something more permanent. I found her a perfect home with one of the engineers I have the pleasure to work with. He and his girlfriend (OMG, love her!) Own a house and live on a farm... they have like 9 or 11 horses, 4 dogs, a ducrops, a mini macaw, & no children. Majestic's cage sits in front of a set of large glass sliders and she is out in the morning while the couple gets ready for work, and then for hours in the evening... she loves them so much! When I saw her with them, I swear she gave me the "thank you, mom" look. They even make their bird's little mini pancakes on the weekends... it was truely a perfect match, that I am very proud of regardless for all of the slack & negativeness I am fairly sure I will get slapped with for only having the dear for about a week and a half... I could see her potential, I just wasn't best mommie for her, and I'm proud to have been raised in a way that I have no shame in recognizing and accepting that fact. Also, in her new home, both of her parents are her handlers... in my home I am the only bird handler... I think that is also a very positive environment for her.

Thanks so much for your sincere interest in how we were doing & I hope I haven't ticked-off or disappointed anyone. But I believe being a good parent is doing what is best for your kids, no matter what.

Thanks.

OMG, she loves that darn thing! Yes, it is I believe 2X4s... it actually came with her when I adopted her... orignally I took it with her so she'd feel at home, however, once she tears it apart to the point where it will no longer support her, I will definately replace it. It is merely a cross type thing with a base to prevent tipping... I'll peek in my photobucket and see if I have a better pic...

Ahhh yes, here we go:

Now, this one has a square wood base, however I think for my next one I may try a Christmas tree stand... the base looks as though it would be the hardest to build & Harley's never sits quite flat on the floor... drives me crazy!

Good luck!!

I hope this helps & is what you were looking for.

That Harley has the cutest face. You must smile every time you look at her.

You did the right thing by Majestic. It's great to rescue a bird but it is even better if you recognize there is a better fit for her elsewhere. No one can bash you. You did right by your family and by her. In the end it is a win/win situation.
