goffin owners, help

Ok i have a goffin that is stubborn will not step up of of any cage or from in hers. She is fine any were else but the cages. She will bite and just look at your finger like what do you want.Is this normal. sometimes she will step up from her cage but not always. when is mating season i have read it can be vary, would this change her mood at all. Is thier a way to tell. Also sometimes when she plays she will bite at me. The other night i got home she reached over and grabed my shirt and tugged on it like she wanted to play.I just assumed she might be like a dog were they get caught up a little in it. My other birds are a grey and two tiels. they are pretty laid back compaired to her.
Thanks Adam

How long have you had your Goffin? How old is she? Is she a rehomed bird? A lot of what you want to know depends on your answers to these questions. Although not an expert by a long shot, I have 2 Goffins, a male and female. I found Goffins are like kids, they like to test their boundries with mom and dad. Don't wrestle play with her, when she bites and you pull away she wins.....thereby becoming the queen of her relm. You MUST be king of your flock. Goffins love to play, love to tease you, love to push boundries. My friend has a Goffin that will reach through the cage and grab, and act like he wants to play really bad; but, when he reaches in....she bits. It's a behavior that he though was really cute at first....but now has become a problem. So be careful.

Has far as the mating behavior/mood swings....a lot depends on the age of your bird. My male is 3 years old and has gone through his first season of "sexual frustration," as my vet called it. It has not been a pleasant experience for either him or me due to feather picking, having to wear a collar, and severe personality change. My friend with a Goffin, however, has had no problem at all with her bird during these times. It's a individual bird thing. I suggest reading up and having lots of patience. The "step up" thing is something you'll need to work on. BTW.....neither of my birds step up when they hear those words....for mine it's "come on" and a offer of my open hand. So if you have a rehomed bird......maybe they didn't use "step up".

She seems to get better every day. I gave her a bath today and i was not excited about it because i now how our other birds hate it. she was calm and didn't even try to bite. She must just need time. I think i got a good bird i just hope i can keep her that way. I like to ask advice to make sure i know if i am reading her right. I hate all the bad information about toos. I always expect the worst. I guess that can be good for people that don't know what they are getting into.
Thanks Adam

My Goffins love their shower. I purchased a shower perch....and when I take a shower, so does one of them. My female, MeMe, loves it when I actually put her under the shower spray and soak her. I only do that about once a month. So if you bird is nice and calm during the bath.....I'm betting she loves it. Try filling a misting bottle and spraying her. If she starts lifting her wings for you to spray under them.....she's lovin it.
