How long have you had your Goffin? How old is she? Is she a rehomed bird? A lot of what you want to know depends on your answers to these questions. Although not an expert by a long shot, I have 2 Goffins, a male and female. I found Goffins are like kids, they like to test their boundries with mom and dad. Don't wrestle play with her, when she bites and you pull away she wins.....thereby becoming the queen of her relm. You MUST be king of your flock. Goffins love to play, love to tease you, love to push boundries. My friend has a Goffin that will reach through the cage and grab, and act like he wants to play really bad; but, when he reaches in....she bits. It's a behavior that he though was really cute at first....but now has become a problem. So be careful.
Has far as the mating behavior/mood swings....a lot depends on the age of your bird. My male is 3 years old and has gone through his first season of "sexual frustration," as my vet called it. It has not been a pleasant experience for either him or me due to feather picking, having to wear a collar, and severe personality change. My friend with a Goffin, however, has had no problem at all with her bird during these times. It's a individual bird thing. I suggest reading up and having lots of patience. The "step up" thing is something you'll need to work on. BTW.....neither of my birds step up when they hear those words....for mine it's "come on" and a offer of my open hand. So if you have a rehomed bird......maybe they didn't use "step up".
