split feather shafts

Do feathers grow back if a feather shaft is split? as in, chewed up almost to blood shaft?

someone called me today and asked me, and I have NO IDEA.

Feathers often get damaged from rough play, other birds, even plucking and chewing. So long as the bird is healthy, and the feather follicle not damaged, the feathers will molt out and regrow perfectly healthy!

It can take forever to fall out and regrow exspecially if they had just moutled. My CAG had one in his wing for over a year.
