Jailbreak! (again)
Remy, my charming little G2, has been at it again.
I know that G2's are Houdini escape artists by nature, but he's really taken this to a new level! He's in a HUGE half-hex corner cage, with four swing out food dish doors. They have the little disc that swings down to keep them from opening. He figured those out in about a day and could "free" himself in about 15 seconds if no one was watching. The design really doesn't have a place for padlocks. So, we designed chains with a C-clamp at each end over each door. Made feeding a pain in the behind but it kept him in his cage. Until Monday. My husband got home from work on Monday afternoon to find Remy, looking pleased as punch with himself, sitting on top of CJ's cage. (CJ was busy ignoring him completely.) There are major chew marks in the drywall behind his cage, a picture was crooked, and he helped himself to chewing up one of CJ's toys from outside his cage. The number of poops on the floor give me a good idea of how long he was out before my husband got home. Let's just say hours, and not minutes. We didn't think there was any slack in the chains at all, but he had somehow managed to pull the chain around the edge of the feeder door. *I* tried it from outside the cage (with two hands including thumbs, no less) and I could barely do it, but he somehow did it from *inside* the cage with only a beak. ![]() We clearly needed a new plan. Hubby went out last night and got these pin things - they have one flat end almost like a nail, and several holes through them at the other end. He drilled holes through the disc and the feeder door on each door, pushed the pin through the hole from inside the cage, and then used a cotter pin through the hole in the pin on the outside of the cage to lock them in. Remy's pissed. ![]() Anyone else with good escape stories?? -SB

LOL...the funniest part is that he really is. He's been banging stuff around all day.
I threatened to weld him into his cage permanently...he gave me this look like "bring it on, lady." -SB

Our U2, who as gone on to the other side. Would unlock Pad locks.
![]() Don't ask me how, I couldn't figure how she did it for the life of me. One day when we were feeding them the phone rang. I stupidly left the key in the lock and never opened the door. When I got back, she was on top of the cage. Locked the pad lock back and taken the key. She then dropped the key inside the now locked cage. We had to take the cage apart to get the key...I was pissed, I think it pleased her....
