This might be a dumb question, but was anything tasty spilled on the metal? (Food/juice/poo lol) Maybe there is a bit of yummy stuff stuck to the metal and she's enjoying it?

None of my birds do that, but we do have a very small Italian Greyhound that will stand and lick metal for as long as we let her, can't figure it out!

Yes! Puffletoo did this for a while, I was freaking out. I took everything non stainless out of his cage and play areas so he started just licking his cage. Nothing spilled, clean clean clean. I decided he just liked the texture on his tongue. I made an appointment with a vet for him and a few days before it he stopped and never did it again and went back to mulching wood. My post about it was here: Licking problem?

Could be, it definitely stopped cold turkey after Mister Pickypants started to eat his veggies instead of throwing them at me! I thought it might be a mineral deficiency as well.

I'm not sure if that's exactly what my U2 does (she hates being spied on in her blanket tent), but right now she's in there, and she sort of hooks her beak into the ladder on her playgym, but usually also has a piece of cardboard in her beak at the same time. She does it for hours sometimes, maybe it's beak exercise?.. lol glad something entertains her that much though.

Hiding under a "nest" chewing stuff up...could she be becoming broody? Have you provided her with a nest? I had read offering cockies a hidey hole can stimulate breeding behaviour.
