Runny Pooh

Hi That Runny pooh question again!
A friend of mine has a Sulphur Crested Cockatoo, he's had it about4/5weeks now.
It poohs are mostly clear liquid with very small solid product.
I have read that birds can have watery poohs when stressed, and/or diet.
But what concerns me here is that he lost his Gallah after only having it a few weeks. (Read it was sick before it was given to him). The vet check showed 4/5 types of bacteria in it's runny pooh, same as what I am looking at right now, and it died a few weeks later. I guess it was to late to resolve what ever was wrong.
I am keeping an eye on Tweety as she has been around both these birds! But her stools are good. But I am more worried about friend losing another bird?
I got in his ear about taking it to Avian Vet, if there is nothing wrong, at least the birds details are then on record. I know his Chuckles was in good health when we picked her up.
I am all for having any new pet checked as soon as possible.
Clive

Has the bird had any fruit lately? Fruit can make stools quite runny.
I'd say if you're in any doubt, tell your friend to call his avian vet ASAP.

Good News! We got Chuckles into the vets today.
She does have a couple of things wrong, but should be able to recover in a few weeks. The vet has put on some meds for 40days, but has told Wayne to take her back if she does not seem to be getting better in 14days time. And she is to have a few Talcom Powder (Dry) baths, as she is very dry, and does not seem to making powder for her feathers. Glossy Beak, not dull. And is fairly grubby.

Just a word of caution. Lack of powder is one of the first symptoms of PBFD. Not sure if the bird was tested for that, but I would warn you NOT to walk back into your house with the same clothes on after being around your friend's bird. PBFD is highly contagious.

Thank you. I have been reading up on PBFD.
I agree with you about caution.
Wayne had his bird over here the other day when we went to the vets.
I took these pix of it's pooh. And you would have to say Chuckles is not that well.
I have been in his ear about the fact that he could be putting other birds at risk.
He is going back to the vet in a fortnight.
Chuckles is still young and has not yet molted.
So we have
Shiney Beak
Some damage to feathers on his crest.
Runny stools. Pix attached.
A slight wheeze.
Does not seem to be making Powwder Down.
I know I should be and am worried for Tweety my cockatiel.

That's one of the dirtiest cockatoos I've ever seen.... half wondering if the bird came from a bad place...

Being grey and dirty looking can be a sign of PFBD as the feathers get grotty because they don't produce enough powder to keep clean. Then again...my BE2 Dusty loves newspaper burrowing..and the ink makes her feathers greyish despite showers.
