Unhappy My new baby U2, acting Possessed

We just got a new baby U2, not sure if it's a girl yet. Yesterday when my sister got near her she starting making this weird sounds. Not screaming like my macaw does. But had all her feathers out and kept making this sound. Reminded me of the movie where she spit out the split pea green soup. Then when my mom got home she did the same thing but kept it up for a very long time. At first it was cute but then after a while it got on my nerves. My mom tried to calm her down. Later we though maybe she was wanting to go to bed since the bird shop closed at 6:00 pm she is used to going to be early. So we cover her up and she went quite. Please let us know if this is what Lori talked about, "is already making herself at home by doing a typical cockatoo sundown call.":

How old is she? Sounds to me like she was begging to be handfed. How long has she been weaned? Sometimes weaned babies will revert back to crying for hand feeding when they are stressed (new home, etc).

She was born on my birthday 12/25 of 08. She does take her beak on the side of the cage and act like she is feeding. The bird shop weaned her so I don't know how long they hand feed her. My mom held her Friday and when she put her away she cried and I mean really cried. My mom worried about her all night. The store had put her on sale because they had 4 new baby too and they needed to get rid of her. My mom went back Saturday and got her. She said her car just drove itself there. But we are worried about these sounds she makes. She buries her little head in my mom shoulder and keeps makes these sounds.

Why dont you feed her some warm brown rice with a little veggie baby food on a spoon? Something warm and mushy is very comforting to babies.

She has lived her entire life at that store, she has never seen a vacuum, furniture, or anything else its all new so give her some time to adjust.

I would love to see pics!

I was thinking the same thing...totally sounds like a baby wanting some foods!

there is a U2 at this store and I love the bird to death and she does the same thing..

definitely try some oatmeal (plain) or with some baby food or cinamon and see if she'll take that...

Good luck with her!

This is the famous cockatoo scream.

What you are experiencing, sounds to me like a baby begging for food.

I need to get a video of what my cockatoo does. I think it may be nearish to what your hearing/seeing, but she's ...not a baby anymore! (we'll just call her a tween for now.)

It sounds like a mix between someone teaching her to scream quietly, and the scream of a eagle, or what you would imagine it to be. She flares all up, and opens her mouth-I always expect one of her ear-shattering screams, but what comes out is about half the loudness, if that-you can still talk/hear over it. But, then again, I can talk/hear over her normal screams. We've all learned to just take pauses whens she goes off, so that your understood.

cockatoo's aren't fully weened till about a year!!! I can't believe they said she was done! I suggest getting some formula and start spoon feeding her again! sounds like she wanted hand fed to me as well!

My mom is picking up some baby food, brown rice and oatmeal, like you guys sugested. She was better last night. It was kind of a soft cry this time. Thanks everyone for your advice. It has really helped. The bird shop said she was angry. But if that was true then why wouldn't she try to bite us. Instead she would bury her head in our shoulder and just keep make that possessed sound. Sorry no pictures we can't find our camera. My sister took it and who knows where it is now.
