Pumpkin's a Jedi-NINJA!!

Well the longer Pumpkins here and the more he settles in the more I learn about him. He's oh so very smart! He's such a neat guy, I love having him here with us. Feel so lucky that he's here. Anyways, he does have this bad habit of dumping water bowls that his former owner told me about. But she found a bowl for him thats harder to dump so instead what my ninja bird does to dump the water is he breaks off long sticks of wood off of his toys and uses those pieces to flick the water out until its all gone. Have been refilling his water bowl about 3 times a day. The mess is inconvenient but mostly I worry about the cage becoming rusty because its always wet. I guess the obvious solution would be a WATER BOTTLE, but since Pumpkin turns out to be a ninja I have a feeling he would figure out how to remove the bottle and chuck it. He's been unscrewing perches lately also so I think he might figure the water bottle thing out. He also opens and shuts his door to let himself in and out and then shuts it behind himself, he's very funny. Have to padlock his cage with a key when i'm gone or to put him to bed at night! This is a first for me, all my birds are smart but Pumpkin is on another level. So, suggestions anyone?

Puppy pads on the floor around the cage to soak up the water he's flinging. Or take away the toys that he's using to fling it with.

Rayne used to dump her water bowls outside of the cage, but only if a dog was laying within striking distance. She did manage to get the dogs to not lay in front of her cage for awhile. However, I did end up going with different dishes in a different cage. I hope you can find a good solution.

No way..be proud you've got one smart bird there! Do the puppy mat trick though. Dusty used to dump her dishes in her night cage, so much that we called the night cage "The Titanic" as if Dusty had been on board the Titanic and bailed the way she did it would never have gone down!

I've got the Bird Butler water bottle - it's no ordinary water bottle! Attached on the outside of the cage, all pvc and hard plastic. Super easy to detach and clean, and none of my birds have had trouble learning to use it. However, Tiki Bird the evil galah did spend the first month standing on the valve and watching the water empty onto the floor of his aviary. Eventually he got tired of doing that and now drinks from it like a normal bird (or at least as normal as Tiki Bird can be...) Here's a link:
