I like to buy toys that have various lengths of chains holding it together because it's easy to re-use after it's destroyed. I bought a bunch of wooden toy parts/blocks at a bird expo, plus some birdy bagels, leather strings, etc. Once the 'toos have destroyed the toy, I take it apart and restring it with replacement wooden pieces. Good as new, for much cheaper!
I've also bought toy parts on eBay for excellent prices, so it's worth looking there too. |

You can buy lumber from home improvement stores. You can get parts at places like walmart and hobby lobby. Bird.com has cheap toy prices. Byrd bell company has large toys homemade for good prices. One of our members, Jan, sells toys and jolly balls. Her jolly balls have great prices. Her toy prices didn't look bad either Pionus Parrots Jolly Balls, Pionus Parrots Jolly Balls and More!. Michelle, another member, sells homemade toys many of which she sells refills for at Welcome to For the Love of Birds - For Birds Sake Toys. Those are the ones off the top of my head.

The jolly balls are all too small for a U2, thats where this post came from-and all of her toys are for smaller birds too.
I've tried tried tried to make homemade bird toys-I fail. Horribly. They end up looking like a mix between a dog chew toy and a hanging mobile. Thats why I'm looking for someone that makes them-not places where I get my own supplies. I have NO imagination

I understand. I have tons of parts but I run out of ideas. I usually cheat by copying ones I see online or in catalogs. I bought stainless steel buckets for each cage that I throw toy parts into for foraging, foot toys, and when I can't come up with a toy design to save my life. Michelle makes the toys she sells.

Here in Oz I buy toys from the parrot rescue centre in Queensland, as the toys are stored packaged etc., away from the birds so you aren't buying "bugs" with your toys and the profits go to help the sanctuary/rescue service survival.
