Phenomenon, I have a rehomed U2. For the first 2 weeks we left him in his cage and talked with him alot and treated him through the bars. At 2 weeks we opened the cage and he did come right out. We talked and treated. Then I offered my arm and up he came. It has been love ever since. Don't get me wrong we have had some issues, he is a big male and right now is physically in love with me. I don't appreciate this behavior so we are working on treating it.
You have had you G2 for a couple weeks is there a past history of biting and that is why you are holding back on asking her to step up? I would give it a try. She is beautiful by the way. You know me as Judy Landeck somewhere else.

Hi Grey!
No, she has no history, she's a baby. I wanted to let her get used to the house, the fact that no one pays attention to her screaming (if she screams)and just give her a chance to observe the other birds and how they interact with me. I did leave her in the cage mostly because I also had to give time to evaluate whether she would attack any other birds or they would attack her. I have birds that demand to be on me from day one..and some that are more "thinkers." She seems to be a thinker from what I have observed, and luckily, she does know how to step up on request already (but I haven't worked with her with the goal of teaching anything..just snuggles for now). She has not bitten, she's very loving. I have picked her up and her cage has been open under supervision..and she has come out in search of me and let me pick her up and cuddle for a while. Her interactions with the other birds have been calm. I just posted this as her "Coming Out" because it's the one of the first times that I have been able to almost document her baby steps. She's quite unsteady so it's funny watching her trying to get a grip on wherever she's going next.

Awwuhhh she's adorable! Yep, you can't brag about your new adorable baby unless it has some form of psychosis. Wait 3 days and then cry your eyes out that it's biting you or something. /nods
