Glass or plastic? I use the plastic ones myself.
You could also get some wiring (a bit heavy duty and enclose the container wrap the ends around the cage bars.. Other option..difficult though it may be...don't forget. :)

yeah I have had to adjust to many things regarding my birds and their antics... from covering my laptop with a sweater each time I leave the room, to putting up a big mirror to stop Trooper from wandering over to the little bird room... and taking certain food dishes away from one bird who likes to repeatedly flip them over! I have since started using a different dish for him. haha they are so clever. Hopefully you will get into a routine soon where it's easier to remember to remove the bottle.

Luckily my water bottle on the side of my U2 cage has a metal clip over the top of it. He can't get it open. This is an old bottle holder so I don't know if they make this kind anymore.

I actually have quite a few bottles (plastic with metal tips) left over from my ferret rescue days. If you pay for shipping you can have them (I will have to dig them out of storage). Nothing wrong with them- I'd just run them though the dishwasher before I give them to your U2. Oh and I don't think I have the hangers (ferrets are also good at destroying/hiding them). PM me if you are interested- I have all sizes.

With a foster Greenwing Macaw, we had to tighten down the bracket that holds the wire. It made it harder for me to get the bottle on and off, but she could no longer lift up the holder.

As far as I know all water bottles are the same- except the ferret ones are plastic. So he might be able to poke holes in it...- but you might want to try it at least once as a cheaper option (if it works!). The metal tip is exactly the same. (I do have a small lixits that I used for my sugargliders- and checked them out- they seem idental except the lixits is glass). Worth a shot?
