How to intro to H2O

Pablo's former people were known to use a water bottle punitively. He HATES it. Problem is that he is a plucker, and needs the bath. Any ideas on how to get this going? He won't step up yet, and was terrified when I tried to get him to step up on a dowel. I think we are a couple of weeks max before he will step up onto my arm. Then I will just take him to the bathroom shower and see if he will play. I've tried a tub of warmish water at the bottom of his cage and splashed my hands in it then left it. No dice. Any ideas??

If you have a bird stand take your bird into the bathroom. Start your shower and you get in and shower. Talk and sing while you are in there. Peek out a couple times. After a few time doing this either have your bird step up and take in the shower or put the playstand in the shower. Some birds are frightened by the noise and force of the shower so you have to have patience. Don't force it.
If you can use a pray bottle put it on fine mist and spray over the bird so that it falls onto the bird. Never spray at the bird.

Turn on the vacuum cleaner and leave running by the cage or playstand. The sound and vibration should excite your bird enough to show interest in being sprayed or misted. Don't know why this works but it does in more cases than none. You should notice the bird ruffle its feathers and possibly spread its wings. Let us how it all turns out.

That is a great question..... Bella doesn't seem to be interested in the water either.... I was wondering about that. (I need to buy a new spray bottle to ensure nothing was inside )

Hahaha.
I thought the title was 'H2' as in a type of bird (like RB2, SC2, M2), not H20 XD
I was wondering what an H2 was...

EVERY time I run the vacuum, I have to mop water.
They ALL give themselves a bath!

Here's my list... mostly complete.. might be missing one or two suggestions.
  • Try a spray bottle
  • Try a plant mister
  • Try in the sink with the water running or just some water in the bottom
  • Try in the sink with the sprayer
  • Try in the tub with some water in the bottom
  • Try a casserole dish or similar with some water
  • Try the dish with ice
  • Try the dish with foot toys
  • Try the dish with a vacuum cleaner
  • Try in the shower with you - watching you having a blast getting wet!
  • Try spritzing yourself, and have fun doing it! Then spritz the bird

I thought it was just my Ekkie that did this to be a sod. Nothing like trying to vaccum soggy seed, pellets, beans and fruit. There ya go.

I would just like an explanation to "why" and "what" it is that the vacuum cleaner does to make the birds want to bathe?
