M2 in need of FOREVER home in PA.

A Birdy friend of another birdy friend has a Moullcan Cockatoo that needs a forever home. I will ahve more details by this afternoon. The bird is in the Philadelphia area. These people are hurting inside and do not want to give up Sydney, but have no other choice at this time. Anyone of any interest please email me privately. More to come. :(

Hey Chariclo :) ............I just had an idea even though I mis-read your comment on the first reading >>> If & when we get that bird haven etc. going, we should maybe have a section of one of the buildings with bunk beds etc.....all set up so I can invite each of our board members here down for a FREE vacation in South Fla. IN EXCHANGE for working/helping out on the bird farm and as partial further payment for their services, they could go home with a free bird buddy as long as they qualified and offered a forever home for that particular needy bird. If they could not keep in the future for some unexpected legitimate reason, then they should bring the bird back to the refuge to be re-homed to another potential forever home...........What do ya think about that idea? Am I a bird-brain or what? Don't answer that!!!!!!! ........ That way YOU could be assured of that sunny free vacation WITHOUT having to wonder about the possibility of "reincarnation".

Btw, for those in need of more comfort, we will be working towards "suites" for each of ya in the future, rather than bunk beds.

Awesome! :D I've read your posts about this haven you are planning, and I think it sounds absolutely incredible! I think many people would take you up on the offer to work there and take care of the birds in exchange for a bunk for a week. I was even thinking that if someone wanted to adopt a bird you should make it mandatory for them to spend a week or at least a few days there working and caring for the birds - so that they are sure they want one, and you are sure the bird is going to a good home. And as a benefit, you would get extra hands around the place. Just an idea.

Anyway- no such suite needed for me - I live near Buffalo, NY - I'd sleep on the floor just to be in Florida for a week!

I haven't gotten any updates on this M2. ????? :(

I know what ya mean about those winters in/near Buffalo Chariclo,

I took my mother there once in the midst of winter to bury her brother who passed, many years ago. Nastiest/coldest/windiest/snowiest/wetest weather I have ever been in my whole life for the few days we were there. Couldn't wait to get out of there and back home to the beach.

The suggestion you made relating to the bird farm/refuge/etc. is basically what I had in mind although we both put it in different words etc..........Thanks for clarifying it.

You'll be one of the first persons I will invite to come down once we get this place going but if we don't find that resident night caretaker fairly soon, it may never happen. :(

I can, most likely, offer ya that same vacation (if ya qualify to take care of my own current collection/flock) here on my own property, for about a month, in the not too distant future. A month in winter-time would be fine with me.........Pick your dates and I'll see what I can do which could possibly be either this coming winter or the next, depending on a couple of things probably happening in the somewhat near future I think?......Btw, at my place, I have NO bunkbeds. :)

This sounds great. I wish I lived closer, I would love to help you. I would definately be down to visit. I'd probably fall in love with the place and never come home. I wish there was a place like that up here. If you guys need an extra hand, let me know. Maybe there is something I can do on the computer or at home.
