I got a new sun conure yesturday

My fiance works at petsmart and recently they got a bird shipment of 4 wonderful birds. A pionus, a quaker, a sun conure and some really cute cockatiels. Well he fell in love with the sun conure. We have been debating for a month whether or not we should get him because he was so expensive. I sold back some of my books last week and got $150 for them, that with his 15% discount convinced us that it was the right time to get the bird. I only ended up paying $340 for him/her. We named the bid Maui and he is the cutest and nicest bird ever. The petcare manager taught him how to do head stands and I am teaching him to shake hands. He is catching on quickly. He is definately more playful than my cockatiels (they spend most of the day grooming while he plays with all of his toys). I love having three birds. I think the next bird we are going to get will be a congo african grey in a couple of years and then hopefully a hyacinth macaw some day.

Congratulations on your newest member. They truly are the most beautiful of the conures and their colors make up for any of their squawking. I have had mine for 4 and 1/2 years and I love her to death. They love to cuddle, mine is sleeping inside of my housecoat right now. Check out some of my photos

Thanks for sharing your pics with me. I have really become the bird lover that I never knew I was. I used to think that I was a dog person, but the idea of owning a dog has gone out the window for me now that I have my fids. They are wonderful. The comedy has already started with Maui. Yesturday he got himself stuck under a tshirt and it was so funny.

Susan your birds are gorgeous. Especially the sun...I can't wait for Tiki to go through her molt and change colors. It's so funny because you have 2 end of the spectrum birds, the bright, colorful sun and then what some would say the boring dull grey (although I don't find CAGs colors to be boring) I actually think the greys are gorgeous and have a more refined look, whereas the suns are all about the flash

Congrats on the new Sun! They are such quirky little guys. Loads of personality. Mine is a total showoff. He just loves the laughs he gets. He is 4 years old. It is a crack up because he loves to just lay on his back. i have had people thinking he is sick when they see him do that. I am like nope that is just Sundown for ya!!

You will have a great time with him. My babies have changed my whole house and life.
