As for what my conure, Noel likes, she likes kisses!
As far as toys, well she likes the bird kabobs! Other than that she really doesn't like anything! That's how I normally end up recycling the majority of her toys to an alexandrine... Got the tiels here now though, and they are enjoying some of the toys that Noel doesn't care for!

Blaze is a sun conure he loves wood lots and lots of wood! If he doesn't like a wood toy he will proceed to chew his side perch to pieces until I get him a better toy to chew on. lol!

My Jenday Conure, Banshee, loves birdie bagels, bird piñatas, soft wood beads/blocks (especially if they are red) ... He also likes to chew on ropes and strings. This evening he was hanging upsinde down on the side of his birdie piñata and shredding away, haha! Oh, I almost forgot, he also loves shiny bells.
You can make some very inexpensive, entertainig toys with some brightly colored wooden beads & bird safe rope or twine. Even plain beads will work. Banshee tends to favor red objects over other colors. He will go for the red things first and once he's destroyed them, he will move on to the others. Last edited by jamieo; 01-05-2006 at 03:20 AM. |

Thanks you guys for all the tips. I really appreciate it and so will her conure. Looks like I'll make a toy with a lot of red wood, pony beads, cotton rope, rawhide and sisal rope. Will have to buy more leather. Thanks again, I have kept your suggestions in my notes.

Lara:
The key is to make sure the wood is very thin and small. They just can't destroy like the medium and larger parrots and will get bored if the wood is too thick. I also add some paper coasters. I cut them into quarters and center drill them. I have yet to find a parrot who didn't like to shred those coasters. A word of caution: I once made a Halloween toy for a conure. I had scrolled some bats and ghosts and strung them. It scared the poor little thing to death. Try to look at it from the bird's point of view. You live, you learn.

Thanks Nancy. I will keep the wood small and thin. I'll take a look through all the pieces I have but was thinking of using popsicle sticks and pieces of wood of that thickness. I don't have any paper coasters on hand but will go out looking. If I do find some, you'll be getting a knock at the door from UPS
