Question single female sun conure laying eggs - seeking advice

I need some insight regarding Tonto, my 10 yr old sun conure who just laid her first egg. She is a single bird.

What is the best thing to do? When is the best time to take the egg away from her? (I'm assuming that the egg will never be fertile with out a male) Will this break her heart, and is it best for me to try and discourage egg laying by a single female? Any thing else I should know?

Tonto is a wonderful play mate! She is so friendly! I don't want to piss her off by just taking the egg. Hmmm - maybe I'll have my wife take the egg from her so that Tonto does not hate me.

FYI - we had a baby 3 months ago. perhaps a coincidence???? This is really the only change in Tonto's environment.

Thanks in advance for the advice -- Doug

Tonto might have been wanting to have a baby of her own but it's hard to say if that's a thought she had or not. Leave the egg with her for 1-2 weeks, and if she doesn't lay more, you can safely remove it. If she does lay more eggs, leave them be. For now just watch her and see how things go.

My 16 yo conure is about to lay eggs again. I get conflicting ideas about removing the eggs. I've tried both ways, leaving them in and taking them out. Also have tried swapping eggs with plasic ones, doesn't seem to effect anything. Main concern is she wants to be covered most the time. Is it good or bad to keep covering and un covering.?
