My Conure produced and egg?

My Nanday Conure, Harley (she is a girl), while spending quality time with her yesterday she cuddled between my two shirts by my elbow. At the time I thought it was strange that she did that, after a few seconds she was back climbing up my arm.

This is my question, if any one can answer for me. Harley is my only bird. After our time yesterday, I put her in her cage for the night and she had no problem going in. However, When I went back to the chair where we were at, there was an egg in it!!! I guess when she was between my shirts, she had an egg!

She did not seem upset not having her egg when I put her in cage for the night, but why would she have an egg between my shirts (while I am wearing them). I thought conures would rip your finger off if anyone even looked like they were getting to close to their eggs. Does anyone think she misses this egg? Has anyone ever heard of a bird having an egg on your lap?

Lorraine

It sounds as if she is in love with you and has chosen you as her mate. Some birds are so tame that they don't mind you messing with their eggs and chicks. I remember when my cockatiel Casey laid 3 eggs. When I looked at them she herself was intrigued and didn't mind! She even rolled the egg around in my hand.

I've heard of a budgie that literally laid an egg in someones lap! A magician that uses their animals (including a lot of birds) for part of their props had a female budgie as part of the act. She flew out into the audience, laid an egg in a woman's lap, and flew back! It really surprised that woman!

My GC laid her first egg at 10 years old and it happened while I had her while using my computer. She was nosing around the printer, I heard a plop, she jumped and there was an egg. At the time I thought it was one of those candy covered almonds. Up to that point we thought it was a male. That changed her name from Maxamillion to Maxine.

My budgie hen was alone and only pet for 2 years. Then she laid 3 eggs. Alone. So it is sort of normal if I can say so, natural thing. I bought male budgie and my hen keeps having eggs but, they are not mating - he is younger and she is very attached to me. Probably still thinks I am her mate. I hope it'll change.
