Happy huts or tents?

Do conures NEED to have a happy hut or tent? I have one for my GCC but I dont see him use it alot. The thing is with my Sun conure, she dosent have one yet but when I let her out of her cage she climbs up to the top of the cage and diggs herself under the fleece blanket sitting on top of her cage. Is it really necessary for Conures to have something like that. Do I need to run out and get Ginny one? TIA all

I use a Happy Hut for my GCC and he sleeps in it or on it every nite. He loves it. I think he feels secure in there, kinda hidden.

I think it more depends on the bird because my gcc never even pays attention to his happy hut. i havent seen him use it once.

When I first bought a happy hut for my young Sun, he didn't use it for quite some time, even though he didn't seem to be afraid of it. However, now we often see his little orange head (or his tail!) protruding from one end of it, and he seems to enjoy being inside. I believe that birds are individuals and have their own tastes regarding what they do and don't like, but they can also change, if given time...

I have just bought one for our GCC that we will be getting in a week.

I have a question...Do you leave the happy hut in at all times, or do you just put it in at night?

I was reading about 'privacy' issues for birds. Some need to get away - even 'hide' a little, like they would in a tree. We are all so different in our needs - & so are most animals. Having a place to go and rest & be away from prying eyes must be nice.

edit - another member said she left it in the cage - the bird goes there when it wants.

Cuddle tubes are also really good, i have one for my eckie and one for my conure that i'll be bringing home soon. You can get them from e-bay and she is really great, will make one a specific size and colour for your bird.

She also has a website as well.
