Sun Conure doing summersaults! - Just one pic.

Ok, I tried all night to get the young fid to just do the summersault one more time. Today she was a bit timmid and was more interested in a wrestling match on her back rather than a summersault.

However, I put her in the cage and asked her "Why won't you do a summersault?... Why won't you flip..." and all of a sudden, she climbed up the corner of the cage, placed her head down between her legs (while she was in the cage) and grabbed onto bars with her mouth and let go.

Basically doing a summersault on the side of her cage. I asked her to do a flip and again, and she repeated. A mad dash to the camera and a rice crispy or two...

Sorry no video - just a still picture.... Here she is at the tail end of her flip.

She did it three times. By the time I had gotten the video setup to get a pic of her, she had decided she was done and it was bed time. She went into her happy hut and just sat and stared at me (as if to say.. "Ok fat man... leave me be until tomorrow ok...").

Anyhow, at least I got the better the pics of it online for all of you!

heh upside-down birdies are so cute. I understand what you mean about the picture thing. I think my sun conure purposely tries to screw up my pictures by moving at the last second. I've got more fuzzy, blurry pictures than I can count.

that's so adorable! How did you get her to do it in the first place? I'd be interested in getting my sunny to do that!

I think I have seen that look.

Is your conure doing the somersaults in their food dish? My lovebird who is just recently come home with me has two perches he trusts. A low rope perch, and his food dishes.

I keep wondering how long it will take for my bird to enjoy the happy hut and cholla perch corner I created for his bedtime. (Plus, I look forward to stop finding him perching on his water dish with his tail feathers in the water. I have had to change out poop soup three times today! )

Thanks for the pics of the somersault and keep us posted should you get a video of it! I hope I can teach the same to my lovie.
