I have had Ollie brownthroated for about two years now. He is about five years old. He clucks like a chicken and has never lost that love of playing. He is always chasing balls and nipping toes. He has a macaw sized personality.
I also fostered a brownthroated over the summer hurricanes. He was as funny and special as our Ollie. He even clucked like Ollie. If the owner had not reclaimed him I would have been very happy to keep him.

They are not cuddly birds. In fact they seem to go a mile a minute always looking for something to do. But if you want a bird who will keep you laughing the brown throated is it,

In terms of noise I believe that is in the ears of the beholder. Neither brownthroated was a screamer. compared to my nandays and sun the brownthroated " scream " is nothing but a squeak.

Green Cheek

Hello! Green cheeks are very quiet birds! Good apartment birds as well. They also have very good personalities (for the most part). They are usually cuddly if they are handfed, and socialized with from a young age, and very good natured. They do have their times though. Most go through a nippy stage in which they will "test their boundries". If your patient, this stage will pass very quickly. If they do bite you, they don't bite hard. This is another plus. If you are looking for a very cuddly bird, I would recommend the dusky conure (quiet, just like greencheeks). In contrast, are the brown throat! They are very beautiful, and usually very quiet (do have the potential to screem though). Not usually cuddly, but there are some exceptions. None of these birds are extremely colorful like their cousins, but what they lack in color, is more than made up for in personality! :D

Smile green cheeked conure

My green cheeked is very playful, likes to cuddle, can talk softly or make cute little sounds or he can be as loud as can be---I've had Bucca for 2 years. If he's being cuddly he can give the smallest little pinch just out of the blue on my neck-----or if my son gets too close to me and Bucca can't get him then he'll take it out on me and try to bite me as hard and as many times as he can(mind you--these two are like brothers in the way that they act sometimes)--I have a really weird sound that I'll make if he tries to bite me or after he has done so (to let him know that what he's done is not nice--he knows) and he immediately rubs his head on me to suck up and is all cute and nice---and of course I'll rub his head and give him kisses---I live in an apartment and he may be loud at times because he's playing off the sound of the other 3 birds or the one outside or maybe that's just the way he is---I'm not sure----I'm just use to the sounds----I'd recommend the green cheeked conure---and I'm sure there are some other really cute characters out there as well---but I can only speak for what I've been dealing with---I couldn't imagine my life without him----good luck and enjoy ----picking a bird is always a personal choice---spending time is always the best way---all birds have their own characters even in the same breed---

My Brown-throated screams when he wants attention or if he sees me in the room but I'm not paying attention to him, and he screams when I leave, but he stops pretty quickly. He imitates all kinds of sounds, from ducks to pencil sharpeners. He's such a little clown!
