Need some feedback

I have been thinking about getting a Green cheek conure from a local pet store. I'm not sure how old he. He has grown a little since the last time I saw him. Do you think he would get along with a QP? Is it a good idea to get a bird that's been in a pet store for quite awhile. He's a little nippy also I'm assuming from the environment that he is in.
I would appreciate some info in what to expect if I do decide to purchase the pretty baby.

I know at least 3 quakers that are so in love with sun conures they will even share a cage so I'd expect a GCC to get on O.K. with a QP.That nippy buisness comes with the territory when it comes to green cheeks.

You should prepare your home as though the two will NOT get along. They should have separate cages etc anyway. Gradually introduce them under strict supervisioin and see what happens. It's always wonderful to see two species getting along!

And make sure to quarentine any new fids so that you don't expose your quaker to anything from the petstore :)

agree totally with birdlady regarding the need for separate cages as well as with the comment of darwin to make sure to quarantine properly

regarding the greencheek nippiness - that's a pretty common characteristic... gcc's seem to beak more than other parrots, but it's not a hard bite... however, it's a matter of socialization to make sure that it doesn't turn into biting... positive reinforcement for non-biting behavior with lots of interaction makes those little gems wonderful pets!

Just to be clear,I wasn't sugesting the Quaker and GCC share a cage, just useing those examples as a testament to the social capacity of the Quaker Parrot and therefore the likely possibility they would get along......In separate cages.....introduced in neutral territory......after quarantine......
