LOL

Well, let's see. Been so busy lately with my dogs CGC test (one was the 2nd dog for others testing and the other took/passed her test). Nothing beats seeing a toy poodle under 4 pounds doing obedience. I am also slowly getting hardwood floors put in. My bedroom was the first so I need to still put everything back in the way I want it.

Friday, Yazhi did go to the vet. He got his physical plus a few tests, one of which was the dna sexing. He also got 2 feathers on each wing clipped. The vet said he was in good health. He weighed 61.5 grams. I am still awaiting the results from his tests. He will go back to the vet again after he is done weaning just to make sure he is still doing well.

Yazhi vs Goofball (toy poodle)
Yazhi: 1
Goofball: 0
I had Goofball in my lap and Yazhi got mad and started to somewhat attack her. Goofball just kept trying to check him out but he was hell bent on removing this object off his human.

Yazhi vs Belle (ragdoll cat)
Yazhi: 1
Belle: 0
I had Yazhi around Belle's level and she came over to inspect the little critter I had. (Curiosity would kill her...) She is pretty laid back so she tries to slowly sniff him. Well, every time her whiskers came out to sniff, Yazhi kept trying to grab them. They were meerly an inch away. Belle decided she didn't care after all and walked by. Yazhi tried to grab her tail when she was walking by...lol

Yazhi vs Oreo (Australian Shepherd)
Has yet to enter the ring. Updates later.

Yazhi has been flying better since Saturday. Instead of just a strightfoward flight path, he now does some manuevering. He still doesn't go far. Just between his day and night cage and to where ever I am.

Since saturday, Yazhi has not pooped in his night cage. He waits for feeding time to do his business. This morning he had a screaming fit before his 7am feeding because he had to go bad.

His feathers are just about filled in now. Still need a little off the back of his neck. He is getting a little fatter too since he is eating on his own and filling out. He keeps getting better at using his feet to hold food while he eats it. He tries to take a bath in his water bowl too. His cage needs an upgrade or change. He also needs a play gym built and me to buy him a flightsuit. I plan to trim some more feathers soon as well. His nails are like needles... they hurt.

Oh, and he is as stupid a little clown as ever. I call him his Highness, Yazhi the monkey boy

I will try to post some pictures as soon as I can. I want to get him set up in my room first.

Thanks for the update! I was wondering about you 2! Sounds like he is doing great!! I've been trying to get Zoey to wear her flightsuit a little every day. Haven't taken her outside in it yet. Waiting to get the leash for it. (it's ordered so should be here soon) I had to buy them seperatly becasue I bought the flightsuit from a friend of mine that owns a pet store. She didn't have the lanyards - just the suits. But she was having a hard time selling the suits so she sold them to me for 2 for the price of 1!! Was too good a deal to pass up! Zoey hates getting the flightsuit on!! But once it's on she chews on it for awhile then seems okay with it. I try to remember to put it on before I feed her one of fresh food meals. I figure maybe it would help her associate it with something good and also help her forget she's wearing it! Cosmo is better about putting his on - he doesn't like it - but not quite as dramatic about it as Zoey is.

I need to get Cosmo DNA'd. Don't know why I didn't do it when he went for his vet visit and they drew blood to run tests. I know have a form and a card to send in somwehere around here!

I clipped one more flight feather from Zoey last night. She could fly across the room before. She's still flying pretty far today though. I hate to clip another one - but I worry about her flying to the other bird cages once she's been moved to the living room. Guess I'll wait and see. It is kind of fun teaching her to fly to me though. Wonder if I can teach her NOT to fly to certain places

Well, I'm off to check the mail. Waiting for my husband's bonus from work to show up! Would be just in time too. My minivan broke down Friday. We think the transmission might have to be replaced. Waiting to hear. ( I was so looking forward to going on a shopping spree for the fids!!)

Here we go:

Looking like a big boy. Not as scrawny as he was before. Filling out.

Pretty feathers.

Hey, look, it's the camera... Not shy at all.

Can you see me? I can see you... I like to sleep like this sometimes.

Finally I catch him in the act of eating using his feet and he keeps the position so I can finally get a picture of this elusive pose. He has gotten a lot better using his foot now. Sometimes he does the lazy man slouch to balance himself. Unless he is on a perch then he is out of luck being lazy on his balance.

He is such a character. I can't help shake my head at him and his antics. He is getting a bit crazy on the screaming though. But I love him.

How has Zoey been? Done anything odd for you?

woot, Yazhi is finally on 3 formula feedings a day. Can't wait for the 2 formula feedings a day then the eventually one, then the 'I don't need you anymore mommy' no formula meals a day...haha

I probably could have cut him back sooner but I don't want to rush him. He was definately ready for the change today though. His cage is now moved into my bedroom with hardwood floors and he has been adjusting well to it. He flies A LOT further today as well. Did quite a bit of mauevering and flying today. Soon I got to clip him again. And I need to remind myself to call and order a flight suit.

LOVE the pictures!! One of my favorites is him next to his bird buddy!! Too cute!

Down t03 feedings a day?! Getting to be a big boy now! Do you know how long before you get the DNA results back?Zoey has stopped begging for formula. I'm still offering it at least once a day. She still likes it - and the other birds do too!

I got to pick up the van today - they couldn't find a thing wrong with it! I swear - I really thought the transmission was gone. It wouldn't go forward or reverse - just made a really loud whining noise when I pressed on the gas. But they had it for 2 days and 3 different guys drove it and they hooked it to the computer - and nothing. Not that I'm complaining really - but we have 700 miles left till our extended warranty runs out. So if somethin is gonna go wrong - I wish it would do it before then!

I also finally made it to the dentist today and found out I'm going to have to have a root canal. But I guess I'm not totally surprised - it is starting to feel like someone is trying to shove an ice pick up my tooth to my eye and nose (they gave some demerol - I seem to get babbly when on pain meds )

I did go on a small shopping spree for the fids today though! I'm really excited - I ended up shopping online from 2 different stores - but I think I got some really great stuff and didn't spend as much as I thought I would for as much as I got! In total I got 16 toys (6 for Kirby and 10 for the littler guys), a few toy parts and some food for a little under $107.!! (that includes shipping! )

That reminds me - I was going to ask you if you knew about the AABG? It's a group - free to join - they give you a member # and there's a list of participating vendors that give discounts if you belong to the group! The vendors all give different discounts- some give a certain % off your total, some give free shipping, free toys based on how much you spend, etc.! (all avian related of course! ) Here's the link in case you're interested and aren't a member already! http://www.aviannetwork.com/buyersgroup/vendshow.htm

Good to hear that there is no car trouble, but I get how you rather have it happen now then later...hehe

I kind of wish my car would explode so I can get a new one, but transportation is transportation. At least I can get places...

I didn't know about that group. I signed up.

Yazhi has been eating very little formula these days. He is about 7 weeks old so that is to be expected seeing as I have seen sites say GCC wean around 8 weeks. I have been dragging out his feedings only because I want him to feel comfortable about eating on his own and not forced. By now I suppose he could have been on 1-2 feedings a day, but he is on 3 since yesterday. I am sure he will let me know when he doesn't need me anymore. Well need me to feed him formula anymore...lol

Here is Yazhi's new home in my newly done hardwood floor bedroom.

Can't find him in there huh?

Zoey was 8 weeks when she weaned. I finally got my lanyard for the flightsuit. Think I might try taking her outside today. Gonna wait a bit so it can warm up a little more. Temps. got down in the very low 40's last night. There was actually a tiny bit of frost on my van this morning! (I hate winter - not looking forward to it. My dream climate is nothing under 60 and nothing over 75! )

How does Yazhi like his new cage? What size is it? It looks nice and roomy in the picture. (I still need to get Zoey a new cage for when we move her to the living room. I just can't decide! )

Do you like your floors? We redid our kitchen last April and put in the laminate flooring. I really like it! (now to just get the cabinet doors off, sand them down and repaint them. I've been procrastinating for awhile - probably will for awhile more. )
