GCC with Parrotlet?
I was wondering how Valo (my lil' GCC) would do with a parrotlet, given seperate cages of course.
My greatest victory of all times seems to take unimagined dimensions - my love, who told me years ago that I'd have to decide between him and a bird, seems to be so taken by Valo and his bird-character, that he is now thinking about getting a parrotlet. (big bird-character in a small feathered body)We were wondering if we could run into troubles since they would not be together from the very beginning (Valo is still a baby and lives in Colorado for at least another year, while the other lil' one would be a New Mexico resident until Valo and I can move), but they would probably see each other sometimes. We just want to avoid the tiny parrotlet getting bullied around by (stubborn ) Valo....Does anybody have experience in situations like this?

My cousin has both a female GCC and a Parrotlet (gender unknown). She started out putting their cages together and letting them play outside the cage and for the part, they got along. A few months later and still no problems from what I hear of her stories. In fact, they insist on staying in the same cage together. And as you probably already know, Parrotlets can fly even if their wings are clipped since they're so light. So, if it was in any danger (if ever), the parrotlet can escape pretty quickly from a flight-less GCC.
I say do the same method and keep their cages together and let them meet outside the cage and go from there.

Parrotlets tend to be very easy to sex, at least the pacific ones are...
As for keeping them together, in MOST circumstances, the parrotlet would probably bully the other bird... and there's no guarantee that two birds will ever get along... but in the case of mcbaes cousin, two did. Parrotlets are really hyper, most normally more hyper than green cheeks, and may tend to be very nippy/stubborn birds too... if it's something you think you can handle, then by all means, invest in one of the little guys! If not, you might want to consider a more easy going type of bird.
