My Blue Crowned Conure Winston

Here are some photos of Winston. Our beloved 18+ year old BCC. We picked him up about a month ago from our local humane society. They called me cause they were not sure what kind of a parrot he was and he bit everyone. He was in a too small cage, so we have slowly adjusted him to his new palace. He really likes it.... now. It took a while.

Winston might have been wild caught. He has a USDA import band. He is quite friendly to the people that he knows though, so his life must have not been so bad! :)

Mr. Winston is such a cutie! It's great that he's adjusting to his new place. I love seeing pics and hearing the stories of older birds like Winston.

Congrats to Winston for finding such a great new home! Glad to hear that he's settling in. I've heard that Blue Crowns can be pretty loud, how do you find him on that score? That looks like the exact same cage as Quito has, I'll be he's enjoying the elbow room.

He is not loud at all. I think it might be because he is older. He is really mellow and just hangs out. My cockatiels are MUCH louder than him. If he has food and water he seems happy enough.

Wouldn't we be all.... food, that's being served to us, water and toys... what more could we ask for? Damn it, I have to work like crazy for that boring green stuff that I then have to exchange for food and water at the store.....

He sure is a handsome fellow! I considered getting a blue crown for awhile - but was worried about the level of noise (or rather the pitch). He sure is lucky to have found such a great home after being turned over to the humane society! I bet that is a scary place for a bird!
