face cleaning?

So i have a little greencheek named dessie (probably around a year and half old) and a couple months ago she began this habit of what seems like "cleaining" my face and neck. when i do my homework and have her sit with me she runs her beat over my neck and chin [usually] very gently and it seems like she is cleaning it... but at times it can get very annoying. i've never had any problems with her biting very hard when scared or something, so i'm not worried that she will hurt me, but i was just wondering if this is a usual behaivor and if she is really trying "preen" me.... (?)

Yazhi, when he is on my shoulder, would sometimes play with my hair. But sometimes he will run his beak over my neck area as well with what I am guessing is his open mouth at times. Sometimes it is just cuddling to get close. It is hard to tell always since my hair is long. He tickles at times. I don't allow him to get my ear though because I am afriad one day he might go **chomp** on it...hehe I also don't like it when he tries to get at my necklace chain. Lucky I don't wear earings and such.

Sometimes a cat will try to groom you, so why not a bird? hehe

shadow LOVES to preen my hair (although i usually dont let him do it unless i have NO hairspray in it at all) he also LOVES to bite on my jewelry... i always have to take it all off before i take him out or he wont let go of bracelets, necklaces, earring and whatever else i could be wearing.

Yeah, she's preening you. She could be getting to that age where there's something more on her mind though. I'd be on the watch for other signs of hormones!

sounds like preening - valo does it, but i pay attention when he's on it... could lead to a nip in the face which i really don't want.
nate's right - there could be something else involved, and then you might want to be more careful since you don't want your little fid to think you're his mate could lead to territorial behavior which is hard to correct

Baby preens my ears neck & face all the time. I usually let him do it, because, well it feels good....LOL

Should I stop ? He's never hurt me, very gentle. I thought it was just a sign of how much he loves me......

Well, ahem.....! But seriously, if he's not being hormonal its probably fine. My own policy is no bird near the face and neck area, because they can be a lot quicker than we can.

thanks for the ideas. i actually don't know if dessie is a she or a he, i just decided she would be a she when we got her... i don't know if that has anything to do with it. i deffenitly don't want dessie to get hormonal w/ me.... is there anything i can do to discourage that?
