Conure tantrums.

I've just had Dharma throw a tantrum on me. She was out of pellets so went and filled the bowl up. This is about the time of day they get their fruit and veg too. Put the pellets in and the little cow started throwing them everywhere. I obviously gave her the wrong thing. She has never done this before and to top it off is now soaking me with water. She's just given herself a bath, waits until she gets right next to me then shakes. Anyone else get this kinda thing from their conures? Rotten little rat.

Charlie "DIGS" around in his pellet dish when he wants out or for some other reason.... which normally results with pellets flying out of the dish and onto the bottom of the cage! He has all sorts of tantrums though, such as not wanting to step up so he screams like he's being hurt, or deciding he's had enough food, so instead of completely refusing it, he picks up a bit, then shakes his head letting the food fly!

My sun conure, Peanut, will do that once in a while, especially if I've been using the same type of pellet mix too long. He'll stick his head in and just start swinging it back and forth pushing food out. Sometimes he'll make little noises as he does it. I keep about 6 different types of pellet food around and change the type I give him all the time. When I change often he doesn't act up. I actually like that he can express his frustration to me in such a way. He is such a sweetheart.

I don't think your sun is being mean when he shakes off by you. He just wants to be near you to share his happy bath time. Is it possible he's cold?

Dharma is so cute!

She's happy now the fruit and veg are in. The current room temp. is 77F. We've been having a day of 90F+ heat here today so cold is not a problem. I think you're right, she's just sharing.

Just wait, I'm sure you'll see some tanturms. Bonita throws them all the time. But luckly most of the time she takes it out on her ball instead of me. Whenever she is mad or didn't get her way she will start slinging her ball all around, its brutal. She will also sling her food outta her bowl if its low or there's to many pea's in it. She hates pea's. I try to get her to eat veggies before fruit but if she don't want to, she will throw them at me & start screaming like someone is killing her. I guess thats her way of telling me off. Crystal

Chaska will do that too on the rare occasions I try pellets on her-usually when I get a free sample pack at a bird fair. They obviously are unacceptable no matter what brand!

Tuc likes tossing seeds out of the cage when he has picked out the ones he likes. Usually this occurrs right after I have swept, he throws the really messy food right after I mop!

I've seen Doyle throw a tantrum once. We were leaving to go out of town for a few days and I think he knew it. He went nuts in his cage and started flapping his wings and screaching. He was not happy, lol. He doesn't really throw food tantrums but if he doesn't like something he throws it to the dogs- last night I had all my dogs fighting over a grape, lol.

I think Dharma through a tantrum because birds usually get into a set routine of what you feed, or do everyday with them. Sounds like the little brat lol was upset because you gave her pellets when really she was expecting that fruits & veggies!!! lol..
