Conure crys when put to bed

Hello everyone,

I have a 5 month old green cheek conure and she loves to be held, and never want to be in her cage. Whenever shes put to bed she, lets out a wine that sounds like shes crying and continues to do this for about 10 minuites. I'm just curious if this is a normal behavior or if somthing could possibly be scaring or bothering her.

Thanks.

Is she possibly imitating something. Sometimes Doyle imitates the way our puppy cries when she has to go to her room when it's time for us to leave.

Buddy makes noises when it's time for bed, I guess they could sound like cries but I find that it's more like coo-ing. Also occasionally he sounds like a baby tiger (or so I call him), kinda like a gurgled growl.

Do you have a happy hut or some other hideaway for her? Buddy coos and sighs and then snuggles in his hut for bed. He's done this for as long as I've had him, I've noticed that conures vocalize a lot more at night

Charlie doesn't like being in his cage, actually he protests it! He'd rather be attached to me rather than in his cage... So when I put him in his cage, even at night, he'll do a few squawks, then normally settles down in 10-30 seconds. So yes, I guess it is normal... just ignore your little one when it's time for bed.

I second the happy hut. Conures and Quakers just love them! My Chaska will actually put herself to bed when she gets tired. The crying is probably the bird equivalent of "Mommy, I don't want to go to bed"!

Dharma just screams when I put her back, or walk out the room or...yeah, she's a diva. The GCs put themselves back when they've decided they're hungry.
She sounds like she's very attatched to you. Try the happy hut. Dharma has one and it's her little sanctuary.

when the lights go out, shadow knows its time for bed and tucks himself into his happy hut.. he "babbles" to himself for a while.. it sounds like chattering.. then he grinds his beak and falls asleep. i strongly suggest a happy hut if u dont have one. most conures LOVE them. this could help solve that problem
