i got him! (pics inside!)

So, i drove into miami and after about 2 hours of horrific traffic, i walked into a private little shop..where i met Swaps!!

He ("he" by default) was missing a little spot of feathers on his head and had what looked like stress marks all over, but one look into those little eyes and i was taken. I paid $175 for him, bought some pellets and a small carrier (looked so much better then a cardboard box) and we were on our way!

I have 3 days to take him to the vet, I couldn't get an appointment for today so tomorrow will have to do. He's such a cutie, and seems just like a GC conure is supposed to be in personality. This morning he let me take him out of his cage (he doesn't know step up, but lets you reach in and grab him) and i scratched his head/neck for like 20 minutes before i went to work.

Last night i thought it was a boy, but this morning i got the feeling it was a girl...so taking bets now!

And here is Swaps (will keep the name if it turns out to be a boy or a girl hehe).





P.S. His birthday is July 24th, 2006, and he has an open band.

I had a couple questions for everyone. Very newbie questions!

How many times a day should i be trying to handle Swaps? He likes to chew on my fingers, but not aggressively...it still hurts though!

I am taking him to the avian vet tomorrow. Will being handled by the vet cause him any trauma?

His poops are like...peach-ish. He eats the fruit zupreem pellets, does the coloring of those effect the color of his poops?

Being handled by the vet should not cause any trauma to Swaps. If it's an avian vet, he or she will know how to properly handle a bird.
