Green Cheek Conures

I saw the cutest Green Cheek yesterday and almost came home with, lol. We thought that maybe we would like to get one later down the road. Anything I should know about Green Cheeks? What cage size is best for them (he was alot smaller than Doyle)? Are they generally as loud as the Nandays? Thanks for any info!

I'm no expert yet (obviously, hehe), but i heard that 24x24x24 is a good cage size? or minimum cage measurements. Swaps is in something smaller until his new cage gets here.

Swaps is only screaming loud when he's yelling back and forth to my cockatiel, who is on the porch. But let me tell you, its L-O-U-D lol.

my green cheeks are in a 24 x 24 and they are happy as can be. but my husband is home 5 days of the week so they have alot of out of cage time. yes, they are smaller than nandays (probably one of the smallest conures) and they dont get too loud. im not sure how loud nandays are, but a green cheek doesn't usually get louder than a cockatiel. but, as dawnkyung pointed out above, i guess they can get louder. lol

keep in mind that green cheeks are a little nippy at times. another thing is that they (at least mine) always lead with their beak - beak your finger before stepping up.

Greencheeks have a VERY high pitched squawk, but may be nothing compared to a nanday (as I've heard they can be just as bad as suns). Hard to say. Generally speaking though, they are VERY nippy little guys, which is what is most commonly seen in GC owners. If you can train one not to bite however, they are very cute, energetic, fun loving creatures!

compared to a sun or a senegal, a green cheek's "high pitched squawk" is nothing...

shadows cage is 24x24x36. (36=the height)
i have heard that greencheeks are the quietest of conures and arent as loud as the others. i dont have any other conures to compare.. but shadow is pretty quieit. i mean, he can be loud if he wants to be.. but he doesnt scream much.
it is true that GCCs are very nippy... shadows nippy here and there but it doesnt make me love him any less because i know its just in his nature. as much as he nips, he never really bits too hard. the only time his bites hurt me are if hes very very mad about something.. and by then, i have usually seen the signs to prepare for a bite.
its more that he wants to explore everything with his beak. he licks everything.

so here is my advice to you...

want a greencheek? then you should get one! shadow is soo much more than i ever expected and i love him to death. he makes me sooo happy and he is soo sweet. you would never expect such a HUGE personality from such a small bird. i say GO FOR IT!!

i just follow up on what people already said - they are comparably quiet, meaning if you live with a nanday, you can absolutely tolerate a GGC. valo complains here and there, but that's about it.
the only drawback is their nippyness - compare it to any other bird, you might have to deal with heavy usage of beak, and it's kind of a pinch-like bite. valo nips, and sometimes it drives me insane, but it's usually something that is solvable with a little time-out and some flirting, and self-reflection (memo to myself - no kisses, when little feather guy heads for food ).
but despite that - they are great birds.... i love valo to death and there's nothing i'd change about him. so if you're thinking about getting one - do it!
