When do they get talkative?

I have noticed that Doyle only really talks when he is getting sleepy. Before bed every night when we cuddle he grinds his beak and practices his words. Did your birds start talking this way or do you think that he will always only talk at night? So far he says Doyle and does kissing sounds (and is starting to say Cooper, the dog's name).

isn't doyle quite young? conures are generally not really known for their great talking abilities, but some talk... and nandays are among the ones most likely to (i bet valo will never speak a word unless it's for comanding me around ).
if you keep practicing with him, i'm sure he'll talk just fine. i've never heard of conures only talking at night, but personality does play a huge role

Yes Doyle is young about 6 1/2- 7 months old. We never expected him to talk so this is a bonus! But he just becomes this chatterbox at night, lol.

valo has his moments too.... sometimes he just chatters up a storm. i'm surprised because some of the stuff he mutters is really close to understandable (and of course there's the complaint-fest which is not only high in volume, but also very clear when it comes to its purpose )
and he kind of says valo, baby, up, what and stuff like that- but i think that's only understandable for someone deeply in love with him and wanting to hear that stuff (that would be me )

i had a gcc that can talk up a storm. ozzie is a great talker for a gcc. he can say : thank you, pretty boy, stop it now, ozzie, hello, mooommmy, and you can get him going by saying hows is it, and ect. i no longer have him due to his never ending screeching like a cockatoo. we live in an apt now. so now he is in a home that he can be content in doing the 2 thing. we miss his personality and attitude. he came from a deaf family. so the way he got our attention was to bite. i had to use a towel to get him out/off the cage. it took me about 6 mo to get him to stop biting the hand that feeds him. i knew was a biter when i got him. he would always nab me when i went to see him. it took me couple mo to make up my mind.

Dharma (sun) doesn't talk. I think she's about 5 months now, but I don't really expect much. She's a bit of a ditz. The female GCC does this weird cotton wooled whistle thing. Not sure if it's a normal GCC sound or an attempt to imitate a whistle. Those with GCCs would know, I'm still learning with Fidel and Juanita.

Birds are most talkative during the morning and evening times... He may learn more as he grows older, but it really depends on the bird... Here, the mornings consist of all (or most) of the birds waking up. Noel starts screaming cause she wants food, and she wants it NOW. Then Charlie starts screaming until Noel shuts up, but Noel doesn't give in too easily, so it lasts for 10-15 minutes, if not longer. If Noel's not screaming, Charlie will hardly mutter a sound, except when he feels like being noisy, but that's not more than a few squawks in the morning... but that is ONLY, an I say ONLY, if I am within his sight! If he can't see me, then that's a whole nother story!

He can also be noisy during the day, when I don't have him with me.. He'll squawk, then occasionally say a word, phrase, or otherwise, then some more screaming, and so forth. Unless he's with me, Charlie's not very quiet! Noel on the other hand, as long as she has all that she wants/needs, she's quieter in the room than with me, but she doesn't normally get very noisy except for mornings.

My year-old Sun conure will "rehearse" his words before bedtime, too... That is when he seems to be the most comfortable with talking, but he will at other times when the mood strikes.

We first heard Zoey talking right before bed. She'll now talk during the day but still talks at night when I put her in her cage. She just says about 3 words/phrases (step up, good girl and come on). I love to listen to her practicing before she goes to sleep. Zoey is also 6-7 months old.

Paulie talks a lot at night when the TV is on (he likes to compete!). And sometimes in the morning. He talks for awhile everytime...he knows lots of words and phrases.
