My Baby Green Cheek Conure Meeka!

This is my baby green cheek conure Meeka,
Hopefully if i have posted the picture correctly, you can see him...lol.
Im not great with all this technology stuff...eee makes me sound 100....

The pic quality isnt that great but i was usuing a mobile phone because my camera is broken. At least you get the idea though :)
Weve had him for nearly a week and his hatch date was 7th feb 2007.
Im completely smitten with him already what a completely loveable charactor!

Just a couple of questions, he has a cosy hut to sleep in but never uses it?
and Im constantly worried he isnt eating enough because he would much prefer to sit and sleep on you or play with you.
I always get his food pots out the cage and offer him food at intervals just to make sure he is eating plenty....... worrying for nothing?
also, I got him a petite aviator harness so we can go outside in the future.
But I can never imagine being able to put this harness on him and not hurt him because theyre just little parrot and their bone structure seems so frail.
Does anyone on here use the aviator harness with their green cheeks?

I think im maybe worrying alittle to much about him, but its just because he's so little and lovely and Id never want anything to happen to him lol.
I am so happy to have him

Your probably worrying a little much, but thats ok cause you love him. the sooner you get him into a harness, while hes young, the better, so he'll know its part of life. if you wait too long it will be a foreign thing to him, and harder to adjust to. my sun is 14 months old and i'm not haveing much luck yet, he's not used to being touched around the wing area, cause he's just never been handled that way. get your baby used to being handle all over, early in life, cause he'll need to be handle differently, for different reasons, such as claw clipping, and vet needs.

first of all - meeka is gorgeous.... can totally understand that you fell in love with him (?)
so, now from GCC human to GCC human - LOL... a few answers.....

*) GCC are hyper - that's just how they come. valo will not eat as long as i'm around and he thinks it's playtime. a good way to deal with that is to either have him eat in the cage as part of the routine (prepare dinner, baby goes into the cage for 30min to eat) - Valo will usually eat that way. Or you can get him one of those perches that have a food cup attached, and place him on the table with you next to him - that's another way how valo will eat. (make sure he gets plenty of veggies!)
also, try different things - GCC are little piggys and they eat plenty OF THE STUFF THEY LIKE. valo loves harrison pellets and zupreem fruit - maybe you wanna give those a try.

*) the happy hut - some birdies like it, others don't. just plain reality. do you know if your birdie is a boy? for girls, i wouldn't be too worried if they don't like it, since it stimulates nesting behavior and you might have to take it away later on. with boys that's not too much of a problem. overall, if he doesn't like his hut, it's nothing to worry about.

*) oh yeah - the harness valo has a harness, and i can get it on (by now)... after months and months of trying, i finally can wrap it around him. here's what i did: have the harness around him (valo's is attached to his food perch, and by now he happily plays with it)... and then be consistent in trying to put it on. a good idea is to towel him for that....

*) towels - valo LOVES towels, which is great if you go to the vet or if you wanna get the harness on. since your baby's still young, i'd get him used to towels now - play with towels with him, let him climb up on them, and hide with the baby underneath - it gives you a way to play with him, and it's super beneficial....

*) i'm glad you're happy with your baby - they are adorable and wonderful buddies.... i'd never ever let my little baby go anywhere without me; you could say i'm absolutely crazy about valo

You said that the picture quality might not have been the best, but his cuteness sure did shine through. What an adorable baby!

Im sure itll come in very handy :)
Meekas eating veggies alittle fruit, some seed and some pellets.
What does everyone find their GGC likes regarding veggies? Any favorites?

Meeka seems to like cauliflower, carrot, sweetcorn, spinach....although ive tried him with a lot more lol.....but he only seems to like what he likes and thats it.

I have to hold back from posting a thousand pictures.....its easily done when you get a new baby!

he also likes birdie bread a lot as well as bean mashes, and he LOVES blueberry/veggie birdie muffins (which reminds me that i have to post the receipe for that)

edit: and oh, keep those pics coming LOL
