Sunny Update

Just want to post and say our Nanday Sunny is doing incredibly well. From his papers, we know he came from Vorens Aviaries so I have to give Howard Voren credit. He is well-known in the world of aviculture and this bird is well-adjusted and extremely bright.

Sunny is still being handfed but eats his veggies (He LOVES red bell pepper.), pellets and seeds. Right now, he is working on a "Birdy Banana." I also placed a bowl of warm water in his cage and he bathed a bit after his breakfast this morning.

He has a plastic parrot toy that involves removing various wooden shapes out of the holes in the sides and he has already started trying to figure this out. He moves bowls closer to him with his beak and I've helped him begin to master holding food in his foot while he eats. Not sure if I mentioned this in another post but he flew to my shoulder from his cage yesterday and I found this amazing for a bird who is a little older than two months!

Anyhow, thank you for reading my babbling. I'd like to hear from other conure owners about their birds' abilities, unique or common. Oh, and there is a great article on conures in the August issue of Bird Talk magazine.

Best,
Laura
