Bad to Not Be Banded?
Something I forgot to ask the vet when I took Stewie in: should he be banded if he's not already? He doesn't have any sort of ID on him. How would I go about doing that?

most important question to ask - do you need the band.... (if you won't be traveling out of country with the bird, not trying to sell him, etc. a band is really not necessary - lots of people have the bands removed actually)

Depending on the bird, Micro chipping is now more affective than banding :)

I wish we had no bands they're useless for me and dangerous. I'm afraid to have them cut off they're on small birds and even the cutting makes me nervous. And I cant believe it doesnt feel like lugging around a ball and chain or handcuff all the time for the birds.
Also when you buy your bird from certain stores you cant even trust the band is legitimately the breeder you think it might be. They want it private and many ship young babies with the bands in the crate. So they just throw any old band on any old bird. Only good for the store to track who's who IMO. |
