I fell off the chair

I've never been particularly determined to teach Valo to talk - I don't care whether he talks or not... doesn't make the slightest difference to me.

Yesterday when we left the office to go home, I offered him my finger to step up; generally I say "come here" when I want him to step up as I eventually plan on really working on recall with him. Well, anyways - he looks at the finger, and then says loud and absolutely clear "step up" and of course does NOT step up

He repeated it again 4 times since (this morning he tried to get me up earlier.... "step up" "step up" )

Now, if we could only get the girlie to stop quacking like a duck and get her to use that vocal energy a little different

Congrats! That's great. I doubt my sun conure will learn to talk since I live alone and he doesn't really hear/see how people communicate with each other. Having a talking bird has also never been important to me.

yay valo!!!!!

i know exactly how u feel!! i never expected shadow to talk either and i was perfectly fine with that. i remember one night when me and my bf shut the lights to watch some tv and relax.. shadow goes up to his happy hut and this is the time he ususally quacks like a duck, does some beak grinding and falls asleep..
well loud as can be and CLEAR as day.. he says, "HEY BJ!!" (bj is my boyfriends name) he didnt just say it once either. he said it over and over. of course he was rewarded with kisses and extra scritches and a little treat, and he got to stay up a little later.
i have been tryin to teach him to say my name. hes coming really close to jessica but he doesnt quite have it down yet. hes trying so hard though

Congrats!!! Great job Valo . It is wonderful when they start to communicate with you with words. It sure makes things easier at times when you "know "what they want. My favorite one Zoe says is ...I be good girl!!! when we put her in her cage for a time out. It melts her daddy's heart and out she comes...LOL. So be careful because words are just another way to make you become their slave .

I have room mates but never really speak to them & all my birds talk. I talk to them everyday & they just pick it up. My sun conure loves to talk & make kissing sounds at me. One of my Macaws said "Good Morning" to me for the first time when I walked outta my room this morning, I was so excited. I always tell them good morning every day when I wake up. Crystal

V: Congrats on the first words, how exciting.

I know how that feels too. It's like your babies first words. Lukey's not a conure, but the first time she said, "Pretty bird." , I got all excited and looked at her saying, "Yeah, pretty bird!" She looked at me and made it one better by saying, "Pretty Lukey!"

YAY for Valo!!! How old is he? I would like my quaker to talk but he hasn't and he's two. I saw a quaker who was being boarded at the bird store and he was talking up a storm. Maybe, there's hope.
